Re: Do we need an additional rating for our CHL?

No is my short answer to the OP.

Great logic Hoi Polloi, political savvy is paramount in this discussion.
Also, thanks Purplehood.

Re: Question about CHL Badge

UncleBob you just made your right of passage. Concealed means concealed. I pray I never have to reveal that I have a CHL except to any LEO that asks for my ID. A badge, sash, or hat only says, "I'm armed and I'm not a trained LEO." Of course, I think the tiaras are cute, but it wouldn't look good on...

Re: How was your fair experience?

Same place for me, Gate 11. Wednesday, October 6, at 11:15am. BTW, can all those that responded post which gate and time of day they had their encounters? Editing old posts is fine, i intend to pull all of it after the fair and crunch it into some sort of digest. Wednesday, 09/29, approx. 12:30 p.m....

Re: How was your fair experience?

FWIW, I went to the Fair today as part of a work retreat. Since I work for Uncle Sam, I was not carrying and I was wanded just like the rest of my crew. A CHL holder went before us and I overheard the police officer tell him the Old Mill and Cotton Bowl were off limits. I just reread this thread and...

Re: Drive on the right side of the road

I understand how you feel. Several years ago I was side swiped by a guy that fell asleep at the wheel. It was a residental street in Plano and both of us were doing less than 30 MPH. As he drifted toward me, I swerved right to the curb, hitting my brakes and the horn at the same time. He woke up, an...

Re: DFW get-together was a BLAST! Planning for next one now!

Thanks Hoi Polloi! I had a great time and I'm glad you enjoyed the tiara. :hurry: Pam and I had to leave early so we missed lunch. And, I'm getting hard of hearing so talking with muffs on is a real challenge. Next time, we will stay for the whole shebang so I can talk to folks. ;-) Next time, maybe...

I've got some notepads left over from a car club event. I'll throw them in my truck and bring them.

Another vote for the Mercado Juarez. I've "lurked" on this forum since last fall. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Re: Are HS graduations at civic centers off limits?

Thanks to everyone. It wasn't my intention to raise anyone's hackles. I get a lot of insight from this forum and I fit the same profile as most of y'all. That is: I'm conservative, personally responsible, and I carry because I can... not because I'm afraid. Leaving my carry in the gun safe in my car...

Are HS graduations at civic centers off limits?

I lurk here and have found some great info on this board. This weekend I have the opportunity to attend a high school graduation ceremony at the Dallas Convention Center. Assuming the DCC is still not posted under 30.06, is the event off limits because it's a school function? Thanks in advance for t...

Re: Think outside the holster?

FWIW, I've found my UnderArmor holster to be very comfortable.
I carry an all steel revolver or automatic (I don't care for plastic guns) LOL

Any small frame weapon works fine. Large frame weapons are hard to draw.
Hope that helps,

Re: Troubling trend on TexasCHLforum.com

I've been lurking here for a year. Got my plastic last December. This forum remains my favorite of the four I watch. IMO, a forum not only provides information, it also allows folks a safe way to express their opinions. I feel I can distinguish opinions from facts. In many ways, it's the opinions ex...

Re: "30.06" at Amarillo Gun Show

Someone help me out. Why the intensity? Signs, announcements, thats a lot of effort. :confused5 IMHO... Signs, verbal announcements, and two cops at the door checking the guns makes it very clear that everyone wants to be assured there will be no accidental discharges. I attend the shows in Dallas ...
