Re: Multiple-felon traveling with CHL holder and guns

So far as I know, she hasn't had so much as a traffic violation since 2001, and considering she has (thus far successfully) devoted her life to working in rehabilitation/mental health and has unimpeachable cred as a non-profit volunteer, I'd think she would be a prime candidate for reinstatement. I...

Re: extra mag

But in all honesty, you probably will not ever need the firepower an officer is likely to need. You might be comfortable with less backup. I'm far less likely to get into a dangerous situation than an officer. But if I do, I don't have the advantage of lots of heavily armed friends ready to run to ...

Re: DWI arrest while CHL is an automatic UCW...

Most places I've worked, if you're charged with DUI off the clock, you're not touching a company car until you're acquitted. If you're convicted, some of them had alcohol abuse programs they would put you through; others just never let you touch a company vehicle again. Conviction for (or admission...

I'm thinking this is the most likely explanation. It's not like Obama is at all opposed to lying to people to get votes--just look at his record for keeping promises from his campaign.

Re: Summertime clothing options for CC

What kind of belt are you using?

I conceal a Glock 19 during the summer in cargo shorts with a Wilderness Instructor's Belt, with a button-down shirt untucked (and undershirt between gun and skin).

Re: DWI arrest while CHL is an automatic UCW...

My question is why does this not happen to police, we have had a few APD officers arrested for DWI in the past few years and all were allowed to continue working and as far as I know were not charged with UCW even though I know of one case where he was on duty therefor presumably carrying a weapon....

Re: Obama reportedly eyeing gun control

Wouldn't put it past him to issue an Executive Order on his way out. An executive order to do what? It's the job of Congress to pass laws, and there's no enabling legislation from Congress to allow him to order a magazine ban. There's no way the President can, on his own, outlaw the manufacture and...

Re: Help, NICS Denied

I am not currently CHL. Would getting TX CHL negate the NICS check? I'm going to do the VAP after the appeal. This is really bothering me. Yeah, a Texas CHL exempts you from NICS. With the FBI background check with prints that each applicant goes through, they make darn sure you are who you say you...

Re: Help, NICS Denied

Have you passed the NICS check successfully in the past? The frequent criminal records checks required to maintain a security clearance have been known to raise red flags with NICS, but that's usually a delay rather than a deny. The following is the federal law pertaining to restraining orders and f...

Re: extra mag

Two is one, and one is none. Which is why you should carry two pistols. Many of us do. Yup. In the extreme case: at work I carry two guns, 2 extra pistol mags on the belt, and an AR mag on the belt. All that said, many times when I'm of duty I just carry a single pistol. There are times whe...

What a bunch of whackos. The sheriff is wise just to let them rot in their compound--no reason to risk making them martyrs.

Re: Obama reportedly eyeing gun control

I don't even see a way they could do a magazine ban without going through Congress. Import bans--yeah, they have some room to work because of the sporting purpose restrictions in the Gun Control Act. Could probably make some trouble with ammo importation as well. Something big like a magazine capaci...

I think there are a few transferable Glock drop-in selector switches. I would imagine they cost about as much as a decent new car though.
