Re: New Opinion of DPS Attorney on CHL under 46.035

The instructor we spoke with yesterday, stated that the DPS attorney specifically stated that the law change did not matter because the statue states that those places are prohibited. They challenged her as to the plain reading of subsection i, but she was insistent. Since the DPS attorney is speaki...

Re: New Opinion of DPS Attorney on CHL under 46.035

"(i) 'Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06." was a 1997 amendement to 1995 addition of 46.035. There was an article about this very subject in the November issue of the TCHA newsletter last year. Obviously there hav...

Re: April 2009 Applications

I have carried several times since I received my plastic earlier this week. But tonight I did the "Wally Walk". I didn't tell my wife until we were back in the car. I wanted to know if she noticed. She had no clue that I was carrying. Now I just have to get used to wearing my belt so tight. Ron

Re: April 2009 Applications

Called DPS today to follow up with conversation I had Wednesday and was told then that she would add my name to list to ask about since everything has been in for a month. First, as soon as she took my application #, she told me that I was going to be mad at her, as the system crashed and I would ne...

Re: March 2009 Applications

well then they need to change deadlines instead of getting everyones hopes up They do not need to change deadlines, they need to do whatever it takes to comply with the law. It is a shame that the AG will not enforce the statute. They do not have the discretion to change anything. It will most like...

Day 95... Wanted to find out since almost a month ago, I was told everything was in. I was specifically told then (as well as two weeks ago) that my bg checks were in. I was only waiting for the technician to "clear" the application and then have it printed. Today I was told that it is waiting on my...
