Re: NRA?

The NRA is a single-issue organization. I do understand that. Considering the anti-incumbent sentiment that seems to be brewing against both the Dems and the GOP, I didn't see the logic of backing an incumbent, particularly one with what appears to be a very low approval rating even in his home dis...

Re: 1st ticket

I have my own definition of a speed trap. It is where an alert motorist who already knew of "enhanced enforcement" and was going to extraordinary measures to stay within the law was unable to do so. Case in point. Traveling the Interstate from Pittsburgh, PA to Wheeling, WVA, I was driving 5mph unde...

I, too, will do my best to attend the Ft. Worth seminar.

Re: What to do in WVA

West Virginia does not honor a Texas CHL, so I would not carry concealed there without some other reciprocal permit. WVa does not issue non-resident permits. WVa does, however, recognize a permit, resident or non-resident, from Pa. With a Tx CHL, you can get a Pa non-resident permit for $26 and it ...

Re: What to do in WVA

Sorry, but I'm trying to work through some hypothetical situations. http://www.handgunlaw.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is your friend where you can research your questions state by state. I do understand the link and did read it before I posted this thread. I saw the section w...

Re: What to do in WVA

AFAIK the Texas CHL information is not shared across state lines. Thanks for the reply. Our daughter is a police dispatcher in Bedford, TX. What she told me is that the CHL info shows up when a "regional wants and warrants" search is done against the DL. I'm assuming that any LEO, anyplace can perf...

What to do in WVA

Sorry, but I'm trying to work through some hypothetical situations. I understand that WVA is not a reciprocal CHL State with Texas. We have relatives there and may be visiting. WVA takes speed traps to a whole new level and there is always the possibility of getting caught in one. Let's suppose that...

Re: RV Question #3

Welcome to the forum. I never met a full time RVer so I have a question for you. What do you do for a DL? Most states insist on having a current residence address, but if you live in your RV and don't own a house, what address do you give them? Are some states better than others for that? TIA I'm n...

Re: RV Question #3

Apology accepted, Old Gringo. I was a bit taken aback at first and, if I over-reacted in my response to you, I'll offer my own apology back to you. It was my first post to this forum and I certainly didn't intend to start out in any sort of an antagonistic way. As a long standing member on RV.NET, w...

Re: RV Question #3

davidtx, many of the rest stops now are either overrun with OTR trucks (they have mandated rest periods and limited places to park while doing that) or are posted as "no overnights". The hot topic in RVing is sleeping overnight at a Wal-Mart, with the idea being that those parking lots are well ligh...

Re: CHL and RVs

I don't know what the penalty is for violating 36 C.F.R. § 327.13(a). It's difficult to figure out what the penalty is for violating federal regulations (as opposed to laws). Many of the ones that people worry about are misdemeanors punishable only by a fine, and the fine has often been made neglig...

Re: CHL and RVs

If a federal LEO searches your RV, either you are way down the creek without a paddle, or they do not have good probable cause for the search. Sober white people who speak English just don't get searched like that. We're in total agreement. If you go back to how I first posed the question, I told y...

Re: RV Question #3

If you're still concerned, you can stay home. If you're more worried about collateral damage than family protection, don't shoot and stay home. If you can't figure out how to stock your motor home, you're not ready to go on a trip and should stay home. A little rough, don't you think? I must have m...
