Re: At a cross-roads

The advice given to you here is quite good. By the tenor of your posts you seem quite young and used to getting and wanting things now. Expense is relative but the class and permit application are really not that expensive. If you can't afford those then I don't think you can afford range time to b...

April 25th Instructor's course...anyone from Houston?

Anyone going to the April 25th Instructor's course from the Houston area? I'd love to split hotel and travel costs with someone. I'd like to meet in advance to make sure its a good fit before we go spending a week together though :boxing

What AndyC said PLUS you might not want to point out the folly of any non-CCW policy you may encounter until after you've been there a few days. Federal Government....you can guess the CCW policy..... :banghead: At least there are several armed gaurds on duty at any given time..... :smilelol5:

Been working on going back to work. My career training is in a rather limited skillset mind you. Applied to go back to leviathian...er...cough, I mean the .gov....looks like I made the selection list. Now I just have to get through the final (re)hiring round.

Re: What to do after an encounter?

You indicated he went infront of your car, so presumably there was space in front of you. I think I would have just pressed the pedal on the right and gone about my day. And what just what in the name of (insert your chosen deity here) would his defense to prosecution for that action be? :banghead:...

Re: Dealing with Teens fighting a war in the Park!

I'm not that old, and I remember running around with toy guns that looked really really real. Our favorite was a FAL style one that was actually made of metal. NO ORANGE TIPS EITHER. Oh, the humanity! Kids being kids. I'd have firmly asked them to go shoot them elsewhere, so they don't peg one of my...

Re: Required Presentation of CHL when NOT Carrying?

Sorry if flagellating the proverbial equine beast, here. But........A deffinitive answer would be greatly appreciated if there is someone who will go that far. I rarely drink, but if I anticipate that I might imbibe I leave my CCW and CHL at home since, I interpreted the law to present CHL only whe...

Re: Required Presentation of CHL when NOT Carrying?

By law: 1) You should present both your DL and your CHL, carrying or otherwise when requested by LEO. 2) The law has been amended as there is no more penalty for failure to do 1). 3) You still have to do 1). Great, please show me where that law is so I know. GC §411.205. REQUIREMENT TO DISPLAY LICE...

Re: "No Guns" sign removed!

No no no. Didn't you realize, that when you email the company, they will fully research the statute and put a new, fully legal 30.06 sign up?

(Seriously, good work!)

Re: CHL's legal obligation to assist/aid Police Officers

Nooz is reporting that a woman assisted an HPD officer last night when a guy he was rolling around with was trying to get his gun. Said she jumped on his back and "held him" until another officer arrived.

Re: Concealed handgun question

I have a CHL and carry as often as I can but I find it very difficult to carry comfortably in the summer. My question is ; is it true that I can be arrested if while carrying, a gust of wind exposes my handgun for a second? If so, is there any chance that legislation this year could fix this loopho...

Re: What to do after an encounter?

you have no idea what caused someone to get out of their car and come beat on your window? maybe you need to take some driving lessons. You're kidding, right? Even if the OP made a mistake in traffic (IE, cutting someone off), the attacker has NO RIGHT to attempt to assault the OP and his family. N...

Re: Violating a 30.06 Sign

Thanks for all the replies folks. I'm still wondering about an actual case of someone being prosecuted for violating a 30-06 sign... I'm still wondering about cases of establishments with incorrect 30.06 signs being told they won't be frequented by CHL holders who don't mention the fact the sign is...
