Re: Seeking advice: Flight AA DFW-PHX w/CHL
Checking a firearm at DFW is simple. Pack it appropriately (unloaded, hard case, ammo separate, etc.) and declare it to the ticket agent. They will ask you to complete an orange card (or 2... I don't argue, I just follwo their instructions). They will likely send you and your bag dow to TSA for a ba...

Re: Original FW Gun Show question
As a leo, and chl holder, I have carried in every gun show I have been to for the past 7 years. I've never felt the need to remove my loaded weapon from my holster to show or do anything. I have also never "inadvertently" shot anyone or anything. Sure, my training exceeds the minimum requi...

Re: Voting for NRA Board members
Does NJ even have a state level organization like we have here in Texas? In my opinion the TSRA has done more in this state to promote 2A candidates and legislation than the NRA has in Texas. It should be the same in NJ. Perhaps this gentleman could work to build such an organization.

Re: Considering trying to get a city policy modified to allo
I notice you're a Fire Fighter. Perhaps start small and work on getting the FD permission to carry. You may cite the shooting in NY where responding FF were shot in an effort to prevent them from rendering aid. You could make an argument that you and your FF coworkers are more likely to be put in ha...

Thank you for posting this. I was unaware of this change.gkraft4 wrote:The Criminal History Record Check https://engineers.texas.gov/recordcheck.html for the Texas Board of Professional Engineers is new for 2014. Re: LEO CHL Renewal
Last time I renewed, I spent the extra $10 to renew as a Veteran rather than the leo route... OK, what is the advantage of renewing as a LEO? Note also that they have added additional fee reductions. It seems that active LEO (or retired) is a whole $25. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/RSD/CHL/document...

Re: First LEO Encounter
I would have done the same.
In fact I had a break-in that I reported a few years ago where the Deputy was going to ride down to my place from the road on the back of my 4-wheeler. I made sure to have the conversation before he got on

Re: criminal check for licensed professionals
I don't have an answer to your question, but I find it interesting that you needed to submit finger prints to renew your P.E. license. I've been licensed as a P.E. in Texas for many years, and I don't ever recall submitting prints. In fact I just renewed last week, and did it through the web site.

Re: Becoming a LEO
I agree with the recommendations to find the job first. I got hired on in the DFW area, and they not only paid for the academy, they paid my salary while I was there. If you want a good list of departments that are hiring, check out the TML web site: http://tml.associationcareernetwork.com/JobSeeker...

Re: wet gun = ammo issue?
My duty weapon has gotten pretty wet in the past, and my ammo has been fine. A few weeks ago my wife brought me a magazine for my backup that had inadvertently gone through the washing machine. I did toss those rounds. I wanted to bring them to the range ans see if they fired, but I didn't want to k...

Re: Fire at DFW Gun Range?
Didn't this same place burn a few years back? Just did a records check back through January 2010 and got no hits on it. The roof over the pistol range and a wall collapsed back in 2006. The incident closed the facility for quite a while. That's it. For some reason I was thinking it burned. I guess ...

Re: Sawed off shotgun... What to do with it?
Sounds like it should be brought to the next gun "buy-back". Try to get a little cash out of it, and let someone else dispose of it...
I've never heard of someone being charged with anything at one of those.
