Yeah, that's how it works. :banghead:

Re: Campus and Open carry could be dead

The author of this article doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. He suggests that Speaker Straus should have sent the campus carry bill to the Republican-chaired Higher Education committee; however, the Republican who chairs the Higher Education committee is a longtime opponent of campus carr...

Re: HB 1298 and 1299

I don't think I understand what the purpose of 1298 is? I have taken my son to museums when 'in walks a school trip" I certainly don't walk out to my car and disarm... I've also gone to places where a trip is already there, there has been no sign, what are they talking about???? PC Sec....

Re: HB 1298 and 1299

So HB 1298 would make it legal to carry at a location where a school is having a field trip (eg. zoo, aquarium, etc.) provided that the CHL holder is not participating in the field trip? That's a step in the right direction, but it seems like an awfully small step. Am I missing something? The more-...

Re: The House Jurisprudence Committee

The House Jurisprudence Committee will hear the two knife rights bills first. Unless you have inside information from the Speaker's office, there is no guarantee that either of these bills will go to the House Criminal Jurisprudence committee. Yes, that is where the last switchblade bill went, but ...

Re: The House Jurisprudence Committee

HB1299 just means that cities can't make laws more crazy than the State laws already are, which doesn't help anyone on Sept. 1, 2013 if HB936 is not enacted into law. Don't you mean that it wouldn't help anyone except the people living in Alice, Corpus Christi, Dallas County, Houston, Laredo, Melis...

Re: Accidental exposure bill

Looks like it is making some head way, it has been referred to the Criminal Justice Committee. It's really not Speaker Straus's style to refuse to refer a bill to committee. By referring everything that comes across his desk, he gets to claim that he's a "hands-off" Speaker. He prefers to...

Re: Sen. Birdwell files campus carry bill

I understand Alan Fletcher will be filing companion bill in House. I'm not a fan of Strauss in any way, but I think this passed in the House last session but failed by one vote in Senate. Campus carry has never passed the Texas House. In fact, it's never even received a floor vote in the Texas Hous...

Re: UPDATE: 1/1/13

While it can be argued that one's hotel room is under one's control, i.e. temporary abode, if TPC §30.06 language is included in the registration agreement, or if any "no guns" statement is made when registering by phone, then the CHL would violate TPC §30.06 simply by entering the proper...

Re: UPDATE: 1/1/13

Would posting 30.06 prohibit a license holder from keeping a firearm in his or her hotel room? The exceptions to 46.02 (Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon) include being: (1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or (2) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle or w...

Re: Hospitals, with a 30.06 sign, that are owned by Gov. ent

My follow-up: I think you might find clarification by looking at another subsection of Section 46.035. ---------- Section 46.035 (c) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, G...
