Re: Concealed Carry On Campus Forum at TX State

Thanks, RPB, for the reference. I read the article by Mr. Lewis on Oct 9 and was very impressed with his effort to express the facts on the subject. I hope everyone in Houston read it. The only university I visit these days is Rice, a private school that would be exempt, I suppose, to any new law o...

Re: Anti-Violence and Weapons Policy at my work

my issue is also with them saying that the policy extends to the parking lot. I suppose I just limit my liability by carrying in my truck since there is no formal policy to search my vehicle. We are also open and staffed as early as 6am untl 10pm so I have a problem with the policy extenting to all...

Re: Motorist Protection Act..Best kept secret in Texas

This article implies that the MPA applies when travelling. Law was refined in 2008 to define traveling as moving from one location to another reguardless of distance. This along with some other provisions were added in 2008 by the original sponsor after a large supporter of his was procecuted by an...

Re: NICS denial / deferred adjudication question

:iagree: Yes. Thank you. I did check each element of the the Penal code to see if theft was in any of the references and as you have clearly detailed, PARTSGUY appears to be eligible for a CHL. I think the NICS denial may be the result of outdated information regarding the disposition of his case or...

Re: NICS denial / deferred adjudication question

I know for sure that you would be denied for CHL, as far as just buying a gun- not sure, but possible. Are you sure about this???? This happened 21 years ago. A couple of posters above seem to think differently. Can anyone clarify this or refer me to the appropriate law that deals with CHL and defe...

Re: Why can't Texas do this?

I think its worthy to note that not one single person has been tried or convicted under the Federal Gun free zone thing. The all-knowing Wikipedia ;-) says that several have been tried under it and all have lost. In a 2005 Appellate case, United States v Dorsey the minor changes of the revised law ...

Re: Gun On Veterans Administration Property?

OK, Now I'm confused again. I would like to be able to take my sidearm when I make the long drive to the big city and then spend the rest of the day doing errands and visiting. I know that getting "caught" for having a pistol tucked away in my car in the parking lot is a very remote possi...

Re: Gun On Veterans Administration Property?

I frequent the VA Hospital in Houston for regular Dr.'s visits and do not take my CCW because there are signs posted as you enter that say it is illegal. Upon searching on the net I found this in the VA police officers handbook: t. Firearm and Dangerous Weapon Prohibition (18 U.S.C. 0 930). The fol...

Re: Prepaid legal services for CHL holders....

To me, all the pre paid stuff is great for quick questions and “cut a nasty letter for me” type situations; where you don’t want to pay 200 an hr If I’m going to court, I want someone I have a relationship with. How do you intend to develop a working relationship wit a criminal attorney? Well if it...

Re: Arizona Man Arrested for Guns in DC

I think they mean an "unregistered firearms violation" and then "(having) ammo violation". First violation is unregistered firearm. Second violation is having ammo at all without a corresponding registered firearm.... NOT failing to register the ammo.

CT Pistol Permit Renewal - 7 days

Just renewed my Connecticut - State Permit to Carry Pistols and Revolvers (yeah, that's what they call it). Mailed notarized form, photo, check for $70, and color copy of my US passport on Thu, 10/28. Got the card yesterday...my birthday. They don't expire on your birthday, it was just coincidence. ...

No we did not.
Check the landslide victory column.
Some places you have to go.
My polling place is in a courthouse, so it's a double no go.

Re: Mosin Nagant

Just one question. Where do I get one? Get a Curios & Relics Collector Federal Firearms License (C&R FFL). Costs $30. Then you can order one through the mail from out of state. Shotgun News has lots of ads. I've ordered an SKS Rifle and even a Tokarev CZ-52 Pistol with mine. It was really f...

I doubt that "Wine Styles @ Montgomery Plaza" really sells 51% of their business I agree, however with this statement from the OP, "The licensed or unlicensed possession of a weapon on these premises is a felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment and a fine not to exceed...

Re: Another Sign

that sounds like a 51% sign, its legal if so. Its a TABC sign, and denotes that the venue earns 51% or more of its revenue from onsite sales and consumption of alcohol. it normally is a red bordered sign, with a 51% across diagonally of the sign. I doubt that "Wine Styles @ Montgomery Plaza&qu...
