Actually, (as posted on the OCT facebook site), DPS has rescinded that change. the LTC100 is still good for 2 years.
I had not heard that/seen it reported anywhere else so I called DPS and they confirmed. The LTC100 is good for 2 years.

Re: LTC-9
I just had my first student show up for proficiency after an online course. He had the online equivalent of the LTC100. I could have filled out the bottom, just like I have down for other students when some other instructor taught the class. I chose to create my own LTC100, just left the top half bl...

Re: On line classes have started
I reviewed one of the online courses. First there are no controls. Ever take an online Defensive driving course? Every once in awhile, it asks you personal questions - birthdate, d/l number, etc. If you don't answer correctly and quickly, you get kicked off, have to call to get restarted. This cours...

Re: Time period for LTC 100
Actually, RossA, I assumed the 1 year statute had lapsed. You posted this on 4/25 and reported she took the class last April. That would only give her possibly a few days to find an instructor and show proficiency and get it all submitted.

Re: Time period for LTC 100
My understanding is classes taught after the effective date (1/18/18??) are subject to the 1 year cutoff. Classes taught prior to that date still enjoy a 2 year validity.

5 year waiting period after a Class B misdemeanor
The law is clear, you have to wait 5 years from the date of conviction. DPS has stressed that it is NOT the date of the offense. I have been told that DPS is interpreting this to mean 5 years from the end of probation. Is that correct? Worth fighting with DPS over?

Re: Time period for LTC 100
In January of this year, DPS dropped it from 2 years to 1 year. Since the original class was conducted prior to this change, In my opinion, it would still be good.

Re: Range Rental - North Fort Worth ??
I don't think the issue is 'controlling everyone on their range'. After all, they will still have their own RSO's overseeing everything. Why wouldn't it be safer to have the LTC instructor also watching the student. To me this is just a justification. Granted, some of our students are new and inexpe...

Re: Instructor proficiency in North Dallas
What does your instructor certificate say about expiration date? Normally, any issued in 2016 would expire 12/31/2017. Have you been to Georgetown yet? done the classroom portion? Where are you? I am about 45 minutes south of DFW and will gladly help you w/the proficiency. The instructor certificate...

Re: Instructor proficiency in North Dallas
I am about 45 minutes south of Dallas. Actually, there is no rush to submit your LTC requal. You instructor certificate is good until 12/31. I'm sure DPS will mail your certificate out well before that. I have seen estimates that new LTC's apps may take 3 months but that would not apply to an instru...

Recert class
I was at the Thursday PM class. Several people have posted about other classes getting bogged down discussing the online training program. There is nothing DPS can do about cutting off that discussion. However, if you raise your hand, get the mike, you, as a class participate, can point out that 99....

Re: Owner of 51% business able to carry on premesis?
Actually, would be legal for almost any employee. However, I understand that TABC has the opinion that only one (1), AND it has to be the senior manager or owner, can carry in a bar. If the manager is carrying and the owner comes in, the manager is supposed to put his/her gun up, regardless of wheth...

Re: DO WE NEED TO REPLACE CHL100 WITH LTC 100?
Actually, I think the cutoff date for using LTC-100's was 7/27??? Don't remember the exact date. We are able to use them NOW. But, the email was clear, it only applied to classes HELD after that date. Remember, the CHL-100's are good for 2 years. Actually, there was not a lot that really changed. I ...
