It is a neat bar. Dark an cool and ideal for a hot south Texas day. Here is a quote from sanantonio.com "In downtown San Antonio, the historic Menger Hotel has an equally historic bar where none other than Teddy Roosevelt spent time recruiting men for his Rough Riders. The Menger Bar is a repli...

Re: HELP ME SELECT A HOME DEFENSE 20 GA SHOTGUN
OK, folks, thanks for all the input. It is gonna be a 20 gauge. NOW, which one. I would like to add a +2 magazine extension. I know they are available in 20 gauge for Remington 870/1100 shotguns. How about for Mossberg 505 Youth (20" barrel, 4+1) or 500 Super Bantam(22"barrel, 5+1) I haven...

HELP ME SELECT A HOME DEFENSE 20 GA SHOTGUN
I am currently leaning toward a used 870 youth 20 gauge shotgun for home defense. I am open to other options which have available options for mag extensions, etc. I could also consider a semi auto rather than a pump. The person it is for is a small frame female who has very limited exposure to firea...

GONZALES TELLS FEDS "COME AND TAKE IT"
My wife came across this recently in looking into Gonzales related matters after a lovely visit to that fine town yesterday. The Gonzales Cannon is one of the newspapers there. As you may recall from your Texas history, when the Texians were getting a bit rowdy back in 1835, the Mexican army sent a ...

CARRYING A LONG GUN IN TEXAS
The wording of this case would seem to apply the carrying of long guns in Texas. If the default in Texas is the legal carrying of a long gun, assuming that it is is not done in a manner to cause alarm, it would seem that, absent some other circumstance, it would tend to eliminate the hassle from som...

Re: Bulk .45acp Brass
Take note that this .45 brass has the SMALL primer pocket. Not really a problem, but be aware of that before you order, unless you have enough small primers.
Also take care not to mix it with any .45 brass that has the large primer pockets as this will really slow the reloading process.

I THINK WE DODGED A BULLET
A year ago we were considering who might be an effective conservative candidate of President. One of the people under consideration was Chris Christie. His bold talk and his feisty and combative attitude with the press and NJ legislative opponents were attractive. His conservative fiscal stands soun...

You make a good point. Perhaps it is not FOIA. I believe I spoke incorrectly. My apologies. Here is the quote from the Governor's website: "If you want to view or obtain copies of agency records, please send a written request by hand delivery, mail, fax, OR e-mail to the following:" We wil...

Re: DPS Serial Number Check Strategy
This discussion made me curious. I have been stopped a few times(by DPS, Austin PD, and a couple of others)during the 14 or so years that I have had my CHL and have never been disarmed. I was curious enough that I have filed my very first Freedom of Information request. The text is simple, perhaps t...

Folks, the topic has been about Letters to Governor Rick Perry. Could we keep the discussion to this particular topic and continue the discussion of postings and malls and whether or not I really knew about the sign and carried anyway in another, more appropriate area of the Forum. I am sure it is a...

Re: Check out HB38 filed today
If you snickered at HB34 yesterday, you should get a good laugh out of this one. Text isn't posted yet, but looks like the infamous amendment that killed HB508. :mad5 Actually, this does NOT have the really offensive language of Senator Carona's amendment to HB 508. It addresses carry by certain of...

Re: SB299 to Governor
Hi, I'm new to the forum Question: Suppose I were to intentionally display a holstered firearm as threat of force to these three when they had stopped 25 feet away. Would I be committing a crime? My goal would be to defuse what I believed/perceived to be a threat before it ever got to a condition R...
