Re:

To recap sites and times for the Fort Worth side of DFW's 3rd Saturday meetings : February 16, 2019: Cracker Barrel, 132 East Interstate 20, Weatherford, 800 AM. Optional range time nearby after breakfast. March 16, 2019 : Rudy's BBQ, 451 Interstate 20, Arlington, 800 AM. Currently no range time planned, but that could work for someplace nearby. I'm looking forward to seeing all prior attendees, and hope to see some new faces as well. Be there, or be square. :-) SIA I'm in for that plan...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

I wouldn't mind some range time afterwards either. Odds are, I'll be going no more than once every 2-3 months, though. It is an hour and a half away from me after all. If the Arlington breakfast continues, I'll definitely be keeping up with that. I’m not abandoning the Arlington breakfast completely . I was thinking we would be alternating the breakfast between locations. I like that idea...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

Excaliber: You have put in a lot of time and effort to find a place that hopefully will increase the 3rd Saturday attendance. Since the Cracker Barrel has plenty of room, in order for us to spend a long time at breakfast, I'm OK with it. Most of us probably CC most of the time, so what's one more day? I'm willing to try this one, if others chime in and agree. Having some range time afterwards would be a plus. How far is that range from the Cracker Barrel? SIA About 15 minutes. There's also an indoor range (Lone Star) less than 10 minutes away...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

I checked outjust about all of the restaurants that serve breakfast in the Weatherford area. Almost all of them said they are too small to be able to afford to have tables occupied for two hours or so without turning over to other customers. They are all extremely busy on Saturday mornings and depend on that business for their profitability. They could host us on weekdays, but that wouldn't work for most folks who are still employed full time. The only one that would happily accommodate us on Saturday is the Cracker Barrel at 132 E. Interstate 20 in Weatherford. It's quite a nice place, and they have 3 dining rooms. The only kink is that, although they are not posted, the manager advised that concealed carry is fine, but they only allow open carry by persons in uniform. Is this acceptable to the folks interested in the breakfast...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

What about Whistle Hills Cafe on the square? Haven’t been there since it was Weatherford Cafe (wife loved the banana pancakes). Only problem again is the size and hogging a couple tables during morning rush. That’s it, we need to convince Rudy’s to open up a spot in Weatherford. Though I have heard Hard 8 BBQ is coming to Hudson Oaks. Wonder if they do breakfast? I've got a couple other places on 180 and I20 just west of Weatherford to check out. I'll get it done in the next couple weeks in between business travel trips. I have no objections to driving 70 miles one way to meet up, but seems as though we should schedule some range time afterward. Got any good places for us to get some training in afterward? Yes - about 10 minutes from Weatherford: http://www.graysmokearms.com/ Outdoor covered ranges for rifle and pistol. Rifle to 300 yrds. Friendly management too...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

I stopped at Sunnyside Cafe today and spoke to the manager. He'd be delighted to have us, but 8:00 on Saturday mornings are very busy for him and he can't allow a table to go for two hours without a turn in customers. His place is too small to make that a good business decision. I visited the Cracker Barrel in Weatherford (I20 West service road just west of Exit 408 - next to Whataburger) and spoke to the manager there. She said she would be delighted to have us, they have 3 dining rooms and letting us have a couple of tables for 2- 3 hours on a Saturday would be no problem for them. She also said if we call the night before they'll have a couple of tables put together for us when we arrive. 'So far, so good, right? However, their restaurant policy is open carry only for LEO's in uniform. Concealed carry is fine, printing is not an issue, but full open carry is a no go. I'll stop in at a couple of other nearby places on I20 and Fort Worth Highwayt next time I get a chance and see if there is a more permissive opportunity...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

This breakfast is for the "Fort Worth" side of DFW. Hopefully, some Tarrant County/Parker County/Palo Pinto County members will make an appearance. Several 3rd Saturdays, the Arlinigton attendees have been bitterclinger (Dallas County), flightmare (Collin County), strogg and SIA (both Denton County). It's not hard work for us on the Dallas side of town to make these. Let's see some of you Funkytown Fort Worth guys and gals make it! :-) SIA I have made it, I will try to make it again, timing is everything! Crazy2medic (Parker County) Same here. I'd make a lot more of them if the venue wasn't an hour away from my home. Any 2A friendly breakfast places to have a meet in Weatherford area? [/quote] The Sunnyside Cafe on Main Street is 2A friendly. Crazy2medic and I have had breakfast there while OC after prior check with management. It's not nearly as big as Rudy's, but they are very accommodating. I'll stop by and talk to the manager and ask if we could reserve a spot once a month for our meetings without causing grief to his business. If that doesn't work out I'll find another spot. [/quote...

Re: DFW West/Southwest Quadrant Breakfast

It was just crazy2medic and myself in Weatherford today. So many folks said they wouldn't be able to make the meet in Arlington that what looked like it was going to be a very small gathering didn't justify an hour drive each way for me. C2M lives close to Weatherford too, and we had a very enjoyable meal at the Sunny Street Cafe which is just as gun friendly as Rudy's (I checked with the management before suggesting it). If there are any other folks who live out this way, please let me know. If we get a few more I'll look into organizing a DFW west breakfast on a different Saturday than the ongoing Arlington meeting so we won't conflict and still have a more convenient venue that won't take a 4 hour chunk out of the day . Sunny Street is even willing to give us a meeting room if we have enough attendees...
