Not a bad idea, if it is still available. I have not heard if anyone is taking over for the late Walter Birdsong.Mike1951 wrote:Have the gun refinished in Black-T and never worry about it again.

Re: Need your advice
You don't need to beat your handgun into submission. Modern revolvers have a transfer bar that moved between the hammer and the firing pin when the trigger is held to the rear. If the trigger is not pulled, the transfer bar is out of the way, and the hammer cannot contact the firing pin. Load up all...

Re: California couple charged with child abuse
Police in a town in California were called to a domestic dispute at the home of a 20-something couple. They found a loaded .25-caliber pistol on the dining room floor. Three children aged 1 through 4 were in the house. The boys showed the police the location of other firearms, including in one of t...

Re: Cop fired after waitress poses with rifle on police car
I don't think anyone needed to be fired over this. Considering the misconduct that officers can get away with, this is nothing. I certainly cannot blame a deputy for wanting to take a picture of an attractive woman holding an M-4. I'd probably have cleared the weapon first though. The officers prob...

Re: Security Flashlight...with a kicker!
I never understood why people spread those kind of rumors. I just hope there's not a CHL instructor out there teaching imaginary laws in class. While people may spread that kind of false information, I would bet they almost invariably start from the boob-tube and/or movies. We all know how factual ...

Re: Wreck and sexual assault
Rape was a capitol offense at least into the 60's, but i don't remember at what time is was removed from the capitol offenses list. I knew a man in prison a few years ago for the capitol offense of rape. I was a volunteer chaplain at the unit in which he was incarcerated.

Re: Security Flashlight...with a kicker!
hypothetical question .... IF that prototype was available for purchase and IF there was a semi-auto only version available ... would it be "legal" to carry with a Texas CHL? Seems to me, because of the "stock" this becomes an illegal "short-barrel rifle" ... correct? ...

Re: El Paso DPS Highway Stop
I wonder if there being a lower speed limit at "night" and it not being posted is no excuse. I mean how many times have we heard: "Ignorance of the law is no excuse."? Like other traffic laws, there are things we "should" know even if not posted correct? Like passing o...

Re: Glock internals questions
IIRC, the standard Glock setup is for about a 5.5lb trigger. The "-" connector drops the trigger pull by about a pound or so. The NY1 spring raises the trigger pull to about 8lbs (so +3lbs-ish). I have always heard that combining the two would leave the pull about the same or a little hea...

Re: Glock internals questions
I'm a fan of keeping stock Glock parts in mine - so if it were me, I'd stay away from anything other than a Glock recoil spring assembly. I have the lighter ("-", 3.5) connector in mine with the NY1 trigger spring and like it for carry. It's a heavier pull, which I like for a little extra...

Re: Glock internals questions
I am a fan of Glock's "-" connector. They don't call it a 3.5lb connector anymore, because it doesn't really get the trigger pull down to 3.5lbs, more like 4 - 4.5. I put a steel recoil rod in mine, but that is purely cosmetic, IMHO. And I like the extended slide catch. I don't like the fi...

Re: A poll on the change
2292516 Votes — almost 10,000 additional votes and the percentages have not changed at all. What does that tell you? That they're likely doing the math correctly. 10,000 votes out of a total of over 2,000,000 is less than 1/2 of 1%. Unless something was on the verge of rounding up or down, it would...

Re: IN: Yet another SWAT mission gone wrong
That's why we have federal civil rights laws. I'm predicting in this case, the woman will get an attorney to file a lawsuit, and the city will give her shut-up-and-go-away money to settle the lawsuit. As an editorial comment, I doubt that any city or county candidate was ever elected to office on a...

Re: SB1188
OK, so if I'm on vacation in Wisconsin next month, snoop around a local gun store and find a pistol I gotta have, I can buy it on the spot? Possibly, but I believe it would still have to be shipped to an FFL in Texas and you would have to have them make the transfer. You would not be allowed to tak...
