Re: US Navy sailor gives birth while on deployment

So I wonder - on the "Place of Birth" on this kid's passport, what'll it say? "On a boat somewhere"? I believe being born on a US military facility entitles you to be natural born in the US for purposes of qualifying to be President. John McCain, for example. The birth certifica...

Re: Is open or concealed carry of a axe hatchet or meat cleaver lawful in TX

Nobody has been able to tell me how to distinguish an illegal Bowie knife from a perfectly legal knife.

Perhaps the statute is void for vagueness.

Re: Young woman changes lane without signal found dead in jail

DPS and Waller County pay 1.9 million to dead woman's family. Same family that did not board a plane and come to Texas and bail her out of jail. I would have let a jury decide. Easy to say, unless you're the one writing the check. I don't know how many times I've seen litigants reject settlement of...

Re: Application time limit

I tested their prowess and commitment pretty good. I applied while still living in Coronado in anticipation of moving. It turns out I couldn't get back to Texas to take the course before the move, so when I did move, I took the course and sent it, with fingerprints, etc. using my new address. Well, ...

Re: High Cholesterol? Eat More Brisket

Rudy's won't see my business again. I had the same experience. Brisket cooked at 225 degrees for several hours results in tender, moist, and delicious eating. That's why outside ofTexas "barbeque" usually doesn't include brisket, they stay with pork, and douse it with vinegar sauce to try...

Re: Do You Take A Baby Aspirin Daily?

I've been on a daily 81mg aspirin since my first stent and rotor rooter ~6 years ago. I took Plavix for a year after that. I was practically a hemophiliac that year. I had two more stents the end of July a year ago and have just been taken off Plavix once more. The cardiologist recommends the aspiri...

Re: High Cholesterol? Eat More Brisket

Everyone who grew up in the hill country, and paid any attention, knows the magic of exposing a brisket to mesquite smoke at the right temperature for >12 hours which "lets the strings out," resulting in a moist, tender, flavorful cut of goodness.

Re: Rick Perry (and others) felony charges

The problem with all the talk about exoneration rates is few people who bring it up want to talk specifically about how to change the system to prevent it. They just want to complain about getting rid of the death penalty or something. I admit I am interested in getting rid of the death penalty, bu...

Re: How Accurate is "Defense-Accurate"?

When I bought my Sig 226 Navy some years ago, one of those special runs Sig did, I had a hard time shooting accurately. This was one of the most admired pistols ever made, used by SEALS, SAS, law enforcement, etc. How could this be? I had no training since military days, no real experience, but how ...

Re: Why I changed my mind about gun control

It's all a matter of pie.

"All those who come in and support us now will get a full slice of pie. Those who come in and support us later will receive a smaller slice of pie, and those who never get around to supporting us are gonna get good government!" -- Governor Senator Huey Long

Re: Why I changed my mind about gun control

Good read I used to be an anti, then I grew up and thought for myself instead of only going off of what I had been told I should think. When I was young and foolish I once voted for one of the most corrupt Democrat Louisiana governors ever to occupy the office. That is a most remarkable statement! ...

Re: Three professors sue UT to keep guns out of their classrooms

Does anyone know if with their amended complaint they then get another shot at the retraining order? A party can move for injunctive relief at any time during the proceeding when the facts relevant to the case demonstrate a need and the requirements for granting one are present. It would be fairly ...
