Re: Mike Pence @ NRA Annual Meeting
If the arena is part of the convention center, which is owned by the city of Dallas, state law indicates that lawful, licensed carry cannot be prohibited by posting 30.06 or 30.07 signs. Under what law do they decide to ignore that? I'm pretty sure state law doesn't add "unless the VP or Pres ...

Re: Denial
Just like any business, I would think instructors have the right to deny service for any reason, as long as it isn't one of the "protected classes" - race, religion, etc.

Re: Good afternoon, Teaching first class
Make sure you have the correct "long" B27 targets, not the "short" or "econ" versions that some places sell (and don't always clearly identify). I created a couple of checklists for my own use: 1. A checklist of all the materials I need for a class (all the things you m...

Re: Magnetic Vehicle Mount
I would guess your instructor was thinking about the holster requirement for open carry, even in your car. Using something like this would raise the question "how concealed is concealed?" If it's tucked way up under dash, is that concealed? I don't think that would meet the criteria, but t...

Re: Paddle Holster: Inside the pants or just the belt?
I always wear mine inside the pants - I think it looks better, and as TAM said, doesn't block access to pockets. I don't have any issue with it being secure, either - the hooks are able to get a sufficient bite on the belt, even through jeans. Don't know if there is a "right" and "wro...

Re: What is a "school"?
I think the reason it's not defined is because school districts have their own definitions. For example Southlake-Carroll has 9th and 10th grade in a "high school" and 11-12 grades in a Senior High School. In Lewisville ISD each High school has a 9th grade campus but not all of them are c...

What is a "school"?
Section 46.03 prohibits carry "on the physical premises of a school or educational institution", as well as "on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event". It later defines "school" as "a private or public elementary or secondary ...

Re: Failing a student?
Good job Vol Texan. My range safety briefing includes a warning that sweeping anyone with the muzzle will result in your being off the relay. They are also told that, if I have to warn them more than twice that they are getting too close to sweeping someone, they'll be off the relay. I do tell them...

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class
I have been on the waiting list for the class since March 2017. I just called DPS and they said there is no update on my class. isn't one year wait excessive? I signed up this January and was told I'm 140 on the list with 5 more classes "tentatively" scheduled for 2018, max of 12 per clas...

Re: RSD lost my LTC-8
At the retraining class the admin person acknowledged there was a problem with uploads on the system. I seem to recall that she said it seemed to happen more often with non-IE browsers. Even though the system said they were uploaded and you got the mail it never made it. I always use Chrome, so tha...

Re: RSD lost my LTC-8
If I do not receive the LTC 8 email confirmation within 48 hours then I just resend it. It has been several months since I have had to do this. Until my class two weeks ago. I resent it 3 times 2 and 3 days apart. I did get a confirmation yesterday, Monday. In fact, I received 3 of them! That tells...

Correction. It seems that it does not accept a copy and paste, but it worked when I typed it in.
I only received one email.

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class
Same process. Be prepared to wait. From what I was told, a large number of LEOs signed up for the course. I'm at 10 months, if my memory is correct, and waiting. Just finished signing up and was told I'm 140 on the list with 5 more classes "tentatively" scheduled for 2018, max of 12 per c...
