Re: Pictures of your "Black Guns"

Ok, Here's my 3.something AR15's: http://gaheath.com/gunpics/4ar15s-reduced.jpg The top is my first build, based on a stripped lower, a take off A2 stock, A DPMS LPK, Hogue grip, and a Model 1 Sales complete upper. Corona bottles should be very afraid on 1/4 mile shots. I need a range that supports ...

Re: Question regarding restraining order

As a fellow CHL holder I am going to operate on the assumption that she has no real grounds for such an order. With that said such an order has other, even more dire, consequences if I'm not mistaken. You loose the ability to buy firearms with it in place, you can not be in possession of your firear...

Re: AR Lower Time

I have 1 DPMS stripped lower sitting in the safe right now, with 2 other stripped lowers I purchased that have since been built into functional rifles. All three of those are DPMS units purchased from a local FFL (1 purchased at a gun show, two purchased in his store). I also have an Anvil Arms lowe...

Re: Why I, and you, should carry a BUG.

Firing weak handed alone should not cause failures, but combined with unconventional positions, an injury, or a hasty draw it can contribute.

Why I, and you, should carry a BUG.

The following is a short summary of my feelings on having a BUG: A BUG, or Back Up Gun, is an essential item for a CHL holder. A BUG is as essential as extra magazines for a Semi-Auto or a speed loader for a revolver. There are two primary reasons for this with the first being equipment failure or l...

Re: Going to Mew Mexico for 2 weeks

wait? huh? What kind of difference would 2 guns make as opposed to just one? That just doesn't make any sense. and yes, I sometimes carry a bug. Esp when I go near the gunspoint mall or any other seedy place in houston. Apparently I also need to start carrying it in my hometown too haha. oh well, t...

Re: Going to Mew Mexico for 2 weeks

I could be wrong, but I think the law changed in 07 so that CHLs can carry in a place that retails liquor for off premises consumption only please see http://www.dps.nm.org/lawEnforcement/ccw/ccwFaq.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (Last item on the page) and http://www.d...

Re: XDM blues

I'm happy with mine, I intentionally limp wristed the gun in order to get a failure, the only failure out of that were my efforts as the gun worked flawlessly. Its in my carry rotation along with my compact 1911 and my 4" XD.

Re: Once posted always posted?

If you have reason to believe the building is posted then I would think you are obligated to determine if it is. If you go to an entrance that was posted, but is no longer, and have reason to honestly believe the location is no longer posted then you should be ok. Of course the usual applies such as...

Re: Pulled over with a car full of people

I have two pieces of paper, one is printed with "Officer: please do not ask me about this subject in front of the others, I am carrying a firearm and it is located <location>." The other states, "Office: please do not ask me about this subject in front of the others, I am unarmed at t...

Re: I had to draw last week. Looking for input

Last week I was coming home from work on my motorcycle at about 0300 on a dark road where they are doing alot of roadwork. The speed limit on this road is 45, but changes to 35 at the city limits, and the local PD make a point of frequenting the area looking for speeders. So Im driving 45 and there...

Re: Chat Room

With IRC you can setup an irc bot with chanop powers to kick/ban people who violate the language rules and that aspect of maintaining the channel becomes automated. In an extreme situation you can require that users get permission to speak from the chanop. here's a quick, off the top of my head, lis...

Re: Chat Room

Charles, Since you are considering a chat room may I make a suggestion? I would suggest registering a channel on an IRC network such as freenode and then setting up a java client on an html page here. This will avoid eating your bandwidth up, as well as keep upgrades to PHPbb simpler, and will allow...

Re: Rock Island 1911 Commander

I often carry a RIA compact tactical model and I will tell you that the little gun is reliable, accurate, and has earned my trust. In fact that little compact is about to come off my hip and go onto the bedside table.

Re: recommendation on .22 rifle

Out of the newer rifles I like the Ruger 10/22. Overall, and out of the older rifles, I prefer my old Mossberg 146b with its 18 (might be 20) LR capacity tube magazine. It shoots accurately at distances I have yet to get another stock .22 rim fire to hit. It needs a better scope than the $15 Walmart...
