Re: Taurus PT 1911
I own one, have carried it, I have it in my carry rotation. Overall impression is the finish is less than satisfactory, slide to frame fit is a bit loose, accuracy is pretty good, feel is pretty good, reliability is good (dependant upon magazines). Would I buy another, yeah, almost did the other day...

Re: Question on leaving a round chambered
This brings up some interesting thoughts for me... Since the concern here is with the bullet getting seated too far into the case due to multiple chamberings... what about press checks? There are folks on here that are self-proclaimed "press check junkies". I myself do a press check on my...

Re: Question on leaving a round chambered
Assuming you press check your weapon before carrying it each time a FTE due to corrosion will be a non issue. Should you notice any corrosion or the action sticking you now know to break down the gun, clean it, then rotate that round to the back of your ammo. I do perform a detail strip, clean, and ...

Re: The Macho Factor - A disturbing observation
I find it ridiculous now that people feel insecure going to get mail from their mailbox now, where as 1 year ago they thought nothing of it. No macho here. I thought nothing of going to the mailbox until Hurricanes Katrina and Rita changed the social landscape in South Louisiana. A year ago, I thou...

Re: The Macho Factor - A disturbing observation
I am a CHL holder who carries anywhere and anytime they can. I will admit that I am a bit of a coward though. If something bad happens I am going to try my best to get away from it, if I can't get away I will try being a good witness, failing at that I will fight if I have no other options. Since ge...

Re: AR-15
My first build cost just under $780 and out shoots a 1300 factory AR with a comparable (nearly identical) configuration, and mine wasn't shooting its optimal cartridge. If I had it to do over again I would give more thought on having the barrel fluted (for weight reasons). I do intend to put a good ...

Re: AR-15
Well my second build, aka the "Dark Christmas Tree" project, officially started today. It will be a carbine style build with a flattop upper featuring quad rails, 16 inch barrel, ect. On this one I plan to assemble everything on both the lower and the upper. The lower and parts kit are DPM...

Re: AR-15
I'm no expert, I only built one, but I started with a plan. My plan was: Stripped lower Add parts kit and A2 stock Add complete upper. Add magazines I am currently planning build #2 and will use the following plan: Stripped Lower Add parts kit Add M$ style stock Add stripped upper (A3 or M4) and upp...

Re: back up gun or not?
Its actually less complicated than explaining point and click, if it does not fire tap and rack. Oh you don't know what that means? that is when you .... and if it stove pipes you have to clear it by ...Liberty wrote:Is it more complicated than explaining "point and click up to 16 times"?

Re: back up gun or not?
I usually carry a 1911 of some sort as my primary, and a double action .38 special revolver as a backup. The main reason I carry a backup (and a DA revolver at that) is in case Mr Murphy does his thing or I need to equip someone else. Its always easier in a high stress situation to explain "poi...

Re: buying a gun
I agree completely in regards to the avoid ffl fees, and the laughter when he learns of the buyers CHL, but I think the OP is concerned about potential legal issues that don't actually exist.

Re: buying a gun
I think the OP is thinking of registration as in a record of ownership/transfer, not as in "we now know who owns guns so lets go take them...". Or at least I hope thats the case.

Re: buying a gun
As posted above there is no gun registration in Texas. You sound like you wish to document the transfer of the gun from him to you. Your best bet would be to have a dealer perform a transfer for you, however he will probably laugh when he learns you have your chl. A second option would be for you an...

Re: fail to feed on my RIA
That all depends, Arnel's shop does good work and he doesn't take long but he could have a large backlog or your gun might need special attention.

Re: fail to feed on my RIA
Worse case scenario: You have to have a ramped barrel. Best Case new mags/mag springs/recoil springs cure it. Most likely case: a little visit with a good 1911 knowledgeable gunsmith/armorer can resolve it on the cheap. When any 1911 doesn't feed correctly first try some good 7 round hybrid lip maga...
