Re: Century 16 theater "firearms prohibited"

I know what the law says but has there been a case where someone was arrested but not convicted because the sign has the old VCS language? Please provide the case information. I am unaware of any case law on this. He's asking a question, not making a statement. Oop's I misread it too. My eyes flipp...

Re: Fort Worth Zoo = Educational Institution

I was reading on texas3006.com that: "The FW zoo is now registered with the state as an educational institution. Therefore, all the laws that apply to schools also apply to them. They are not required to post 30.06 signs now just as schools are not required..." However, the land upon whic...

Re: Cinemark vs AMC theaters

I have seen 30.06 signs in AMC and Edwards Cinemas. The point of interest is that they are all uniformly NOT in compliance with the law regarding the size of the letters. They are almost all the size of a common 8-1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper. Has anyone tested the law on this issue yet? If the la...

Submitted with no comment. Request your opinion. 2014-08-04_13-00-37_695 - Copy.jpg 2014-08-04 Water district 2.jpg My opinion is that you posted a picture of some signs. They don't mean anything, but depending on where they're posted they could be a courtesy reminder. Where are they post...

Re: Texas CHL holder accidental shooting

A 37 year old man wearing shorts too big to stay up and has a gun, loose in those loose shorts.

I wonder if a picture will ever come out (I doubt it). I would guess no one would be surprised if it did. Some people do indeed need protection from themselves. :smilelol5:

Re: Armed security license

APD pays a probationary officer $56,397 plus medical, pension and other fringe benefits. A probationary officer assigned to a shift starting after 2pm, is a Bi-Lingual interpreter and has a Bachelors Degree would earn $64,737/year, plus benefits. After a year on the job, it's $63,287 base for someo...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

Just moved to a new town, on the front door of city hall (a three room building - if you include the bathroom and closet) are two roughly 6x6 red and white signs that have the proper language for 30.06, one in English one in spanish. They are definitely not valid - too small by far, and are on city...

Re: Cinemark vs AMC theaters

Don't want to get into legal vs illegal 30.06 pissing contest. My point was AMC is posted and Cinemark is not. I would prefer to do business with one that makes no attempt at preventing concealed carry, rather than bring my ruler and measure the size of the letters. Rotten Apple is right. If by &qu...

Re: American Airlines Center, I have an answer

Been lurking on this forum for quite sometime, and finally made an account to post. Don't know if this has been brought up or not. I believe there is a section in the CHL law that states something to the effect of, a large gathering of children, is a requirement for disarming. You should have saved...

Re: Century 16 theater "firearms prohibited"

Carry on! A "No Firearms" sign prohibits unlicensed handgun carry (which is illegal anyway) and prohibits carrying long guns (OCT not welcome). It has zero force with a CHL carrying a concealed handgun. When you say you "looked forever" for a 30.06 sign, I'd like to observe that...

Re: What if you get caught holstering/unholstering?

I think some of you are making this a whole lot more of a bog deal than it is. If you're getting out of your car and unholstering or holstering in plain sight, then I'll agree with you, but you'd also have to be asking for issues to do something like that. If you're in the privacy of your own vehicl...

Re: Sign at entrance to property (not door)

In regards to the intent and the size of the letters, I too believe it MUST comply with the law. The requirement states: ii) appears in contrasting colors with block letters at least one inch in height; IMO the "at least" is the magic phrase that does not allow for "close enough"...

Re: Carry in restaurant with bar...

That's what I thought. I do seem to remember an attorney general's opinion or something like that that addressed it. I just can't remember. thanks, tex Nope. Do you have a CHL? This is fundamental to anyone who went through the class. Someone above said is right, laws don't grant permission, they s...
