Re: Self Defense Shotgun Storage for Quick Access
How about something like the Mossberg Loc-Box? It mounts to the wall, and is supposed to be easy to open in the event of need, but prevents unauthorized access. It isn't available right now directly from Mossberg, but I've found a whole lot of other sights listing it as available... You can check it...

Re: US Military replaced the 1911 with M9 Beretta. Why?
Compliance with NATO standardization on 9x19mm Parabellum rounds for handguns. As with every choice the military makes, there are nay-sayers and claims that the choice was rigged or that a lesser weapon was chosen to replace a better one. I believe that as in most matters of military logistics, the...

Re: NRA recruits San Franciscans to overturn gun-control laws
Wow! It's not often that you read something that demonstrates not only a near-total lack of knowledge within their chosen topic, but also an almost total fail on the use of buzz words. Hollow points == "Cop Killer" bullets? Not even close! Self-Defense == shooting off your pistol i...

Re: Cub Scout suspension
This is the sort of foolishness that happens all the time with "zero tolerance" (read zero thought) policies. They leave the school administrators with no wiggle room to let kids off lightly when something like this happens, and are designed to give them the defense that its policy and the...

Re: Ball ammo for self defense
Do you practice shooting from an indexed retention position? I Can you explain what you mean by that? I may know it, but not by that phrase. If you are talking about shooting more or less from the hip I did that once and got a dirty look from the range monitor. That's more or less what I was talkin...

Re: Ball ammo for self defense
When I'm at the range most (not all) of my shooting is with one hand. In a real world situation I figure that is how I will probably have to use the weapon. If I have the time to take careful aim using both hands, then I probably have the time to avoid the situation altogether. That's not a hard an...

Re: Traveling To/From/Thru Chicago's Airports w/Gun
I would be nervous going into Chicago. I know some have done it but its taking a chance IMO. Last year the Supreme Court voted that the 2nd amendment would stand and guns couldnt be banned. Chicago Mayor Daily basically said I dont give a darn and still kept them banned. Its being fought in the Sup...

Re: Traveling To/From/Thru Chicago's Airports w/Gun
The TSA people were a little weird about letting me lock the pistol case after they screened it and before sending it through the checked baggage deal, but I told them Federal law requires it locked, as does the airline, and they let me lock it. It is really pathetic that TSA employees need to be t...

Re: CHL Question during Jury Selection
Interesting. I wonder how much her legal bills amounted to? Here's some more detail on that case: During preparations for a murder case in the 211th Judicial District Court of Texas, Dianna Brandborg was given a questionnaire that had been approved by attorneys for both sides. It contained nearly 1...

I saw an article a few weeks ago where Cabela's was saying that if this passes, they will NOT do business in CA. http://www.examiner.com/x-2879-Austin-Gun-Rights-Examiner~y2009m9d24-Cabelas-No-more-ammunition-for-California" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sad to hear it (un...

Re: Traveling To/From/Thru Chicago's Airports w/Gun
I've been through O'Hare both inbound & outbound with checked firearms and no hassle. The counter folks were a little leery about how to handle it, but I just told 'em that it was legal and that I needed the little orange ticket thingy, and then get the TSA screeners to check it directly, and th...

Mithras61: Thank you sir for the link. The OODA description sounds kind of like management-speak in business school, but I got the gist of it as it applies to armed self defense. SIA I believe it was originally from Air Force operations in Korea. It had to do with why our pilots were kicking butts ...

Re: CHL Question during Jury Selection
I've been summoned for jury duty at the county level several times, but never get past the initial questionnaire. I suspect that I'm exactly what most defendants DON'T want on their jury unless its at the Federal level where crimes tend to be quite technical and the defense equally so.
