Re: Rifle case

Great information! I was considering one of the cheap Bass Pro cases but now I'll pass. I will have over $2K in my rifle so I guess it will be worth a $200 case. Thanks.

Re: Citizens Police Academy

Galveston doesn't have COP yet but they are working on it. In the mean time, we were trained to work as citizens policing handicapped parking spaces. We will be sworn in soon and will patrol, in pairs, and issue citations when a handicapped parking violation is found. I'm lookinmg forward to working...

Re: Rifle case

That sounds like a great price. I looked in the Galveston Academy the other day and didn't see one like you described. Which Academy did you see the $30 one?
Thanks.

Re: Rifle case

Sorry about the lack of information. The rifle is a Anschutz 1712 silhouette target rifle with a scope. I don't have it yet but it is probably the length os a hunting rifle with a 21 1/2" barrel (maybe around 40 inches). I don't plan on carrying it on an airplane, but I might in the future. I wi...

Re: casual competition and learning what's available

Thanks for the information. Here's another question. What appears to be the most popular pistol for this type shooting?

Rifle case

Can anyone recommend a good rifle case that won't break the bank? Also, a source would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Question

I'm a real computer dufus, but I'm wondering why I get notices of additions to posts that I initiated at times and at other times I don't. I just discovered one that had numerous helpful responses and I didn't know they were there. Is it best to look often rather than depend on e-mail notofication?

Re: Citizens Police Academy

Sometime schedules can be revised. PD's want citizens to attend and, if you ask them, they might change to some other night for the next class. You never know 'till you ask.

Re: Citizens Police Academy

I plan on joining the GPD Alumni Association as well and look forward to a ride! This Alumni group raises a lot of money for GPD that would not be available orthewise for much needed equipment.

Re: casual competition and learning what's available

Thanks a bunch for all the super responses!! I apologize for not thanking you all sooner, but for some reason, I did not get notification that there were any responses. Probably my fault - I'm not very good at computer/message issues. I will be working overseas for a few months but will definitely b...

Citizens Police Academy

This isn't a blooper, but definitely a positive contact. I am just completing the Citizens Police Academy training put on by the Galveston Police Department. It is a long (12 weeks) course but the most enlightening training/course around and gives us civilians a real insight into how a police depart...

Re: My resonse to UT President's commentary in Statesman

The U.T President is, above all, a politician. He responds to political pressure the way his "handlers" want him to. His public opinions have nothing at all to do with the wants and needs of the students. The policy he states will NOT stop another Charles Whitman tower incident of someone ...

Re: black hills leather holster

I have three holsters that were made by Black Hills leather in Laredo. The service is outstanding and the quality is first rate. Call Rudy and discuss what you want and he'll make one the way you want it. Good luck.
