Re: RSD lost my LTC-8
I have not experienced a problem uploading LTC-8s, but others on Forum reported that DPS acknowledged a bug in the program. This was quite sometime back. Chas. Unfortunately, the issue wasn't with the upload. In each case, the document appeared to upload successfully, I received the on-screen messa...

RSD lost my LTC-8
Not sure if there is anything to do about this, but I wanted to pass it along. I was following up with RSD about my School Safety Instructor application, which requires you to have taught at least four LTC classes within the past year. They responded that they didn't have any record of two of my cla...

School teacher with LTC
As I understand it, the Motorist Protection Act prevents employers from prohibiting employees from keeping a gun in their locked car in a company parking lot. There are some exemptions from this protection, one being a school. Therefore, the MPA does not cover a teacher keeping their gun in their ca...

Re: Blind student
As an instructor, we have the right to refuse to teach someone, correct? Are there limitations on the "why" for that refusal? Personally, I would not feel safe trying to administer the shooting proficiency to a blind person I did not know unless they were the only student, we were the only...

Re: Winchester/NRA Marksmanship - challenging you!
My wife and I completed the DE level for three Pistol CoFs - Pistol, Defensive Pistol 1 and Defensive Pistol 2 (which doesn't appear to be available any longer). We both gained several benefits from it: Gave us a reason and purpose for going to the range. Required doing more at the range than just s...

Re: School Safety Certification Instructor Training Class
Is signing up for this class handled the same as the LTC Instructor class - submit your application with fee, wait for an email with a class date, then take it or wait for the next available date? Does anyone have any recent experience with how long of a wait this could be? I believe the LTC Instruc...

Re: Obi-Wan carries a 1911
Sorry...I know I should know better, but is this Star Trek? Flame Suit: On (I'm not a SciFi fan AT ALL, so I don't know the Star Trek, Deep Space Nine, Star Wars, Jedi Master stuff...) You listed off some obscure references there for not being a Sci-Fi nerd. I'm calling closet Trekkie :biggrinjeste...

Re: M&P 15 Sport II - what type of stock?
I think I've determined that the original stock on my M&P 15 is an AR-Stoner M4 stock (specifically an AR-Stoner M4 6-Position Mil-Spec Diameter Collapsible AR-15 Carbine Synthetic Black). At least that's the only one I've found that matches it visually.

M&P 15 Sport II - what type of stock?
I recently purchased an M&P 15 Sport II and really like it, but want to add some additional padding to the stock. I've found several pads from Magpul, Limbsaver and others. However, they always state compatibility as "will fit CTS mil-spec" or "ACS-L", etc. I have no idea wha...

Re: Cannot Be Recovered By Any Other Means
Personally, I would definitely use deadly force, if needed, to save the life of me and my family. Probably also to protect someone else's life, depending on the situation. Protecting my stuff, maybe, but probably not in most cases. Protecting someone else's stuff, definite no. I heard someone put i...

Re: Alien Gear Shape Shift Holster System
I have thought about this, but haven't purchased one, so I'll be interested in your experience. I currently carry a Ruger SR9c in a Fobus paddle holster. While I like the flexibility of the Shape Shift, the paddle configuration appears to stick out from the body much further than the Fobus. I like t...

Re: Instructor proficiency - LTC-8?
In the instructor renewal class I attended, we were told that an LTC-8 was required. That does answer the question, what they do with it is not under my direct supervision. Someone else made the same comment - about being told this during the renewal class. However, when I called RDS, I was told it...

Plastic clips for cardboard targets
I'm looking for some plastic clips to attach a cardboard target to 1"x2" uprights. I think I saw these in use at the DPS range in Florence. Does anyone know what these are called and where I could find them? An internet search on "plastic clips for cardboard targets" didn't come ...

Re: Instructor proficiency - LTC-8?
Final update - we both received our renewed certificates yesterday - right at a week after we submitted the LTC-100s. Unfortunately this doesn't answer the question about whether the LTC-8 was required or not. The other guy submitted one for me; I submitted one for him as well, but I used his LTC nu...

Re: Lewisville Western Days 51% signs
I know this is now moot, but an interesting comment/question about the original Q and A: Q: What items are prohibited from being brought into the festival area ? A: No outside alcoholic beverages, bicycles, skateboards, personal transport vehicles or weapons are allowed. Pursuant to TABC regulation,...
