Re: Question I hadn't considered about a 51% location... (pa

I think you'd have a pretty good defense to 46.02 in the PARKING LOT w/ CHL, due to CHL providing a Defense to ALL of 46.02. Like you, I am more concerned about 46.035...because while statutory defintion of premises there specifically excludes parking lots, it doesn't say ONLY buildings. What if th...

Re: Question I hadn't considered about a 51% location... (pa

I am guessing there would be such confusion over it that many DA's might decline to prosecute when confronted with the case and shown the defense. But some are very anti-gun so they might try to, and even pro-gun DA's might want to, make the case law and clarify things. You could almost see it as a...

Re: If you could have any five guns???

1) Marlin 39A 2) Glock 19 3) BCM Midlength AR-15 4) Winchester M70 .30-06 5) Remington 870 Those should do just about anything needs to be done in North America. Whenever I've played this game before I've been able to get it down to 4. I'm of the opinion that you can really do anything you would nee...

Re: owb input

How long have you had the DeSantis? Curious how it holds up over time. My main concern with all leather is it softening up with age. I thought the Serpa might carry a little too far off the body. I've had it for several years and it is holding up well--don't anticipate needing to replace it in the ...

Re: TSA Threatens to Shut Down All Texas Air Travel

Some state really needs to man up and tell the feds to shove it, whether over this issue or another. The DOJ has been getting really heavy-handed with the states recently--concerns over federal prosecution of state employees led the Washington governor to veto a medical marijuana bill a week or two ...

Re: owb input

I prefer a pancake-type leather holster for OWB concealment--I find it rides closer to the body. I usually carry a Glock 19 in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard; with the proper belt it conceals as well as an IWB holster. I do occasionally carry in a Serpa. It rides too far from the body to conceal effectiv...

Re: Concealed Carry on Campus Opinion

For some reason folks seem to think Campus Carry licenses all the students to carry a weapon. They don't realize that the people this would effect are already licensed to carry almost everywhere else they go. That's because that's the what campus carry opponents want it to sound like. They want peo...

It's dead for this session. Hopefully there will be a better thought-out and coordinated effort in the future.

Re: One for the Gipper!!!~

I could be way off, but I presume the Castle Doctrine doesn't apply in someone else's home. The details of this shooting and the aftermath will be interesting. Castle Doctrine doesn't apply to an unoccupied dwelling. However, I can see a justification for this shooting under PC §9.43: Sec. 9.43. PR...

Re: Question I hadn't considered about a 51% location... (pa

srothstein has discussed this in previous threads, but it has been a while. It seems to be very much a "you'll beat the rap but not the ride" situation. Here's how I understand it. The 51% restriction for carrying is a PC §46.035 restriction, which all apply to the premises . Penal Code Se...

Oooh... Since it's much harder for someone to steal something from your holster than your car, how about the Prevent easy access to guns for non-student Criminals on campus Act"?  Edited your suggestion ..... Name's a bit long; I like the logic/concept though  :smilelol...

Yeah, but unfortunately I don't think a kayak counts for the purpose of the parking lot bill, since it specifies motor vehicles.
