Re: 45 acp brass with small primer pockets
They make those primers in small size because the brisance (shattering effect) of the new lead-free priming-compound in large pistol primers was a touch excessive and causing the primers to back out. Annoying to have to hand-sort brass just to peer suspiciously at a primer-pocket, but there we are;...

Re: Had to use my 45. Hope this never happens again.
I've met NcongruNt. Nice guy. I've lost track of him. I rarely have dreams that involve firearms. However, I had one last week. I dreamt that (a) it was back in something like 1986 when my son was a baby, and (b) one of my shirt-tail relatives was involved. I was screaming at the guy that I was goi...

Re: ar-15 oil or grease?
I've started using Gunzilla on all of my guns, including my AR. The advantage over oil is that it leaves a slick film when wiped dry that doesn't collect dirt like wet oil will. I've read lots of praise from people over in the sandbox how well it reduces malfunctions and the amount of crud that coll...

The Marlins use a "clip magazine".

Re: Brass life
I sort my brass by headstamp, just so things are consistent. When I first started reloading, I was sorting by number of firings. That went out the window as an impracticality, because everything I reload for is semi-auto and when brass gets flung, you always end up with brass you didn't shoot in you...

Nickel has a silver color to it. Like a Nickel. They're actually brass cases that have been nickel plated.texasmusic wrote:Thanks mojo and oldcannon,

Re: Who likes nice shiny BRAND NEW looking brass?
You know how I mentioned how much my wife hates the sound of the vibratory tumbler? I mentioned this tumbler to her tonight (qualifying that it's a bit expensive), and her first question was "is it quiet?". I answered in the affirmative, and she told me I should order it. immediately. So, ...

Re: Found a use for steel cases
Not that I recommend this, but I found a steel 45acp case & I put it in the Dillon and reloaded it like a brass case without any problem. It was actually easier to resize & prime than S&B brass. My Lee manual tells me that's just fine and that steel cases are reloadable, though carbide ...

If you can save a few million of them, you might be able to scrap them for a couple of bucks! LOL!! :biggrinjester: I have a bucket that I throw steel cases into. One day when I'm old, it will be full and I'll take it to the scrap yard to get $4 for it ;) Unfortunately, by the time you get $4 worth...
