Also, assuming you don't have a gun yet, a good, reliable handgun that you can count on safety-wise and could trust your life with generally starts at around $300. However, this is all *highly* subjective. There are some recent threads discussing specific guns in this price range.

From what I have seen about the knife law, some police officers do not do anything about the kinfe unless they have you stoped for something else. Then they write a ticket for it. This may not be what all of the officers do, but what most that I know do. Yeah I've heard the same. Just to stay out o...

It's lonely down here in SA. Just me and Corona. Surely there's more people on here in the home of the NBA WORLD Champions!

. . . Maybe next session someone will jump on Governor Perry's musings after the Virginia Tech rampage, where he thought maybe we should just do away with all the prohibited zones for CHL carry. . . . See, when Charles gives us a thumbs up and a wink... I tend to relax...Knowing a crown ...

You know if you're using the hands free profile and your headset supports it, you can do voice dialing and never take your eyes off the road (unless you're a sucker and bought an iPhone). I hate using my phone (non hands free) while driving and often just let it ring if I'm not wearing my headset. T...

It was used for some students events (like career fairs) while I was there. I'd have to go with "no" on this one, not ok to carry inside. Car in parking lot ok.

There's a place called Hut's a little further down on 6th street away from the clubs. Best burgers in Austin if you ask me. During my time at UT, some friends and I would often go down to 6th street at night to do some people watching. I personally don't drink, but I always got a kick out of how stu...

In that case, I don't know what the big deal is. Just watch out for cry baby DA's who didn't get their way.

Re: Packing before CHL

You know, as long as you fulfill everything in HB823 (2005) for travelling (which is basically sitting in your car), you are doing nothing illegal. It's the second you step out of the car that you would be breaking the law. I wasn't clear on whether or not you pack outside the car as most of your ex...

The only packing I did before receiving my card in the mail was at home to get used to my holster. I think what you're doing is pretty risky though. You never know what could happen. A cop doesn't need to search you to know if you're packing. Maybe by some mistake on your part you accidentally flash...

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't carry there.

Besides those places enumerated in the TPC, only a true 30.06 sign can prevent you from carrying.

If you don't mind plastics, I believe the Setyr M9 (and M9-A1) have more angled grips than normal. I carry one almost every day.

This reminds me of an episode of Penn and Teller's show on HBO which can't be named here. They interviewed a Texas legislator (sorry, but can't remember her name) who was at the Luby's shooting. She watched both her parents be killed while her handgun sat useless in her car, as she was required to d...
