Open carry: negative ramifications

Okay, this is the kind of stupid stuff I was worried about with the advent of open carry. To date, my company has had a company policy (therefore, applicable to employees only) that you could not carry a firearm into a building nor on your person on the premises, but you could have one in your locke...

Re: Universal Cry for help for nearby CHLs

Since many CHL's carry several loaded magazines; maybe three shots {pause} followed by one shot {pause} then three more shots(SOS) into the air would send a signal of distress and call for backup? You gotta put some kind of smiley or something before someone takes you seriously there Oldgringo! I t...

You did the right thing under the circumstances, except maybe for posting it here. But I agree with the other guy... I think you meant this happened to a friend, right?

Columbia Mall Shooting

Well dangit, another shooting at a gun free zone mall. Very early in the news cycle, so likely 90+% of the information is incorrect at this time, but here's the yahoo article link and the the no guns allowed policy from the mall. This is in Maryland, and says it's a suburb of both Baltimore and Wash...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

And on a second note regarding guns shows, I recently had a conversation with another instructor and this was the main idea; Why do I need a CHL to carry a handgun? Because Penal Code (PC) 46.02 makes it unlawful to carry a handgun unless on my premises, premises under my control, motor vehicle or ...

No problem. Completely understandable. And didn't mean any offense; just trying to keep us on-story. :-)

Re: The Truth About Sandy Hook

:iagree: to Rrash and K Mooneyham. Let's not get out in crazy land here with the event was all just a charade. But the truth of the event is instructional. I agree that the main point is that the best chance we had to address this event would have been an armed teacher or administrator at the school...

Re: Hold up @ AL Dollar Gen. Leaves BG shot by CHL

Let's not get it messed up. The incident was in Dallas County, *Alabama*, not Ok. The WFSA article linked to earlier includes this: "McLaughlin's motive remains unclear. Sheriff Huffman does not think it was a robbery. He says words were exchanged between McLaughlin and the people inside the st...

Re: Close call with Glock

Never again - no nylon holsters for this kid. My only use for a nylon holster is serving as a glovebox holster. I keep it in the glovebox. If I need to go inside someone disarmed, I'll draw from my IWB and put it in the glovebox holster. Ditto. I have a nylon for each of my guns for nightstand and ...

Re: "I can't believe you just shot me"

As such, gun-related injuries accounted for 6,570 deaths of children and young people (ages 1 to 24) in 2010, according to the New England Journal of Medicine. When considering death by gun violence in the broader spectrum, NEJM cites, "Gun injuries cause twice as many deaths as cancer, five t...

She's an amazing drummer. I'm a drummer myself and I was mainly watching her. She's the first good drummer I've seen at that program. My daughter was the stage manager for the children's play. She's worked with SPC and Nina for the last 3 years. I tried to find you after the kids show but you'd lef...

Re: San Antonio meet and greet set

BTW: I saw SlowDave afterward at St. Philips for the jazz concert and children's performance. What a coincidence. Really?! I guess I was not practicing full "situational awareness" as I didn't see you. But great fun. I have close ties with the drummer in the jazz band. :-) Between that an...

Nice to meet everyone. Good times. Now I just have to make a seating chart with real names and screen names so I can remember. :-)

Great idea.
