Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Maybe Congress should pass a law stating import tariffs will be calculated every quarter based on the prior four quarters. The US tariff on imports from a country will be the same on all goods from that country, and equal to the highest rate that country charged on any US imports in the previous four quarters. Goes into effect 1/1/2019. I'm sure that foreign powers would support that, especially in light of the fact that the US charges a 2.5% duty on imported cars, but charges a 25% levy on trucks imported into the US (and has since the 60's). They could use our own laws to rationalize higher tariffs in their own country. Tariffs are not a viable solution, and their unintended consequences are well known "If you are an actual business leader, and not a real estate speculator pretending to be one" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_tax https://www.forbes.com/sites/brycehoffman/2018/03/03/if-you-arent-worried-about-a-trade-war-you-dont-know-about-the-chicken-tax/#35d2425a545...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

If you sell an American car in Europe you pay a 25% Tarriff. If you sell a European car in America you pay a 10% Tarriff. Does that seem fair? Trump is proposing no tarriffs for cars worldwide. To get Europe’s attention he has proposed a 25% Tarriff on European cars. In addition a German car costs a lot more in Germany than it does in the US. That maybe called dumping. Where are you getting these numbers? I'm seeing numbers that are different :tiphat...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/24/politics/michael-cohen-donald-trump-tape/index.html Michael Cohen gives a Trump tape to CNN. Apparently Michael Cohen has decided to not go the Trump will pardon me route. I guess lawyers have different rules than a priest in the confessional. Here I thought they were the same. I would guess that you are referring to attorney-client privilege by your statement. Such privilege for attorneys and their client is much more restrictive than for a priest, but when the parties waive that privilege, then none exists. In this case Trump waived whatever privilege may have existed otherwise. Federal prosecutors have 12 Cohen tapes after Trump waives privilege http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/federal_prosecutors_have_12_cohen_tapes_after_trump_waives_privileg...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-pol-trump-europe-20180718-story.html European leaders think maybe they need to rely less on the US for their defense. About time. I hope another American does not die defending Europe. MAGA I do not believe any American has sacrificed themselves to defend a foreign country... rather I think such sacrifice was made by Americans on foreign soil to insure that those wars were not fought at home causing extra hazard for Americans. The choice is whether to engage the enemy at a distance, or wait until they bomb your ports as they did on December 7, 1941, or on 9/11.... isolationism is a poor form of defense that has never proven effective over the long term...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Trump Signals Consequences for Michael Cohen Over Secret Recording early Saturday morning (before golf of course) Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter. “Even more inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client — totally unheard of & perhaps illegal. The good news is that your favorite President did nothing wrong!” I get that trump doesn't understand the law, even when it comes to taping another person, after all, why would anyone tape trump? His story never changes, right? The most confusing part of the tweet for me was why would trump be concerned about my favorite president? I mean, Harry Truman passed away years ago?! (For those in doubt, that's satire ;-) ...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

You don't get satire? Sometimes people need to learn to laugh at themselves. Maybe you progressive liberals should try it. Don't take yourself so serious. Oh, i get the satire, just thought it odd that you would post something so satirically anti-trump. Admit it, you miss obama don't you? It isn't anti-Trump. It's a joke. I acknowledge the guy isn't perfect. Unlike Obama and Clinton sychophants. WOW, and you think I have a problem spotting satire? A survey based on one demographic? Read that article again, it is as satirically anti-trump as anything from late night tv comedians. Although it did make me chuckle considerably more! Good find...

Record approval rating for Trump. http://babylonbee.com/news/report-president-trumps-self-approval-rating-at-all-time-high/ Report: President Trump’s Self-Approval Rating At All-Time High WASHINGTON, D.C.—A new poll taken in which the sole demographic was Donald Trump found that his self-approval rating has continued to skyrocket at an incredible rate, sources confirmed Tuesday. 100% of the respondents, which consisted entirely of just Donald Trump, indicated they felt President Trump was doing a fantastic job leading the United States of America, ranking him especially high in interpersonal interactions, social media presence, and nearly every other metric. Trump immediately tweeted out the results of the story, stating, “My approval of my own performance is higher than ever. Fake news MSM won’t be reporting this! Sad!”...

How come the DemocRats are silent about the $400 million of illegally-obtained money in Russia that was funneled to Hillary's campaign with the help of US Intelligence under Obama? Because it NEVER HAPPENED! Even Putin walked back his own claim on this one. Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

But your right, there's no evidence of russian interference at all, or connection to the trump campaign.... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/07/13/whos-been-charged-by-mueller-in-russia-probe-so-far.html You contradict the article you posted when you say, "connection to the trump campaign" (from the article you cited), "...none of the charges are directly related to any misconduct by the president's campaign." You seem to forget that when this started in July of 2016, trump and crew were constantly stating that there were no connections between anyone in his campaign and the russians. This lie went on for almost a year, and when that lie became unsupportable after the first round of indictments and guilty pleas by flynn and others in 2017, trump and crew changed their tune to "no collusion". It seems that everyone is willing to believe that russia interfered with the campaign... except trump who licked putin's boots and publicly groveled in Helsinki, and still isn't willing to concede russian interference. Why? Because putin said they didn't interfere? Sure makes it seem like trump has something to hide. And yes the us has interfered with other countries during the cold war and afterward. This was done purportedly in America's self interest. The groveling yesterday by trump did not help the US, but did put Russia First... maybe that's the new campaign slogan. Bottom line, apologizing for trumps weak performance is not in this country's self interest...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

That YouTube video is more proof of collusion than anything the dems and Mueller have come up with against Trump. Except that trump only acted AFTER Mueller indicted 12 Russians in March. As far as N Korea... still waiting on something more than a photogenic handshake and a conclusory announcement that everything is resolved. At this time trump appears weak at best, certainly not "America First". Who's been charged by Mueller in the Russia probe so far? Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Richard Gates, George Papadopoulos, Alex van der Zwaan, Richard Pinedo, 13 Russian nationals and three Russian companies, and just last week 12 Russian intelligence officers, all 12 are members of GRU, the Russian intelligence agency. But your right, there's no evidence of russian interference at all, or connection to the trump campaign.... http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/07/13/whos-been-charged-by-mueller-in-russia-probe-so-far.htm...

Re: Today in Trump's new term as President

Yes tump has been tough on russia.... pity it had to be done in spite of him rather than as a result of his leadership: In August 2017, Trump signed into law the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, or CAATSA, despite calling it “seriously flawed.” Congress passed this law by an overwhelming majority in response to trumps perceived bid to lower sanctions on Russia. Trump then bypassed a congressionally mandated deadline in January to act on the bill and impose new sanctions on Russia for the election allegations. Sanctions were finally imposed on members of Russia’s elite and their business entities in April, after 13 Russians were indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice (ie Mueller's "witch-Hunt") for “malicious cyber-enabled activities” in March. In April trump, In the wake of another chemical attack by the Assad regime on Syrian civilians, took to Twitter to threaten the dictator — and his sponsor state, Russia. “Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and ‘smart!’” he wrote on Twitter in April, lambasting the country for supporting Assad, whom he called a “gas killing animal.” Washington's UN ambassador Nikki Haley promptly promised further sanctions against Russia for its refusal to condemn the chemical attack — only to be left hanging when Trump walked back his threat and no new sanctions were imposed. In early July, Trump seemed to challenge the long-held U.S. policy of refusing to recognize Moscow’s Crimea annexation, saying only in response to questions on the issue: “We’ll see.” He also reportedly argued to officials at June’s G-7 summit that Crimea should belong to Russia because “everyone there speaks Russian.” Clearly, he doesn't understand this issue at all. Time and again trump has dealt with russia, but only in what seems to be a reluctant manner at best. Now we have him blaming everyone one but russia for what is clearly russian aggression both here and abroad. To top the previous acts or lack therof with this tiptoeing around another dictator does not help American interests...

“Missed opportunity by President Trump to firmly hold Russia accountable for 2016 meddling and deliver a strong warning regarding future elections. This answer by President Trump will be seen by Russia as a sign of weakness and create far more problems than it solves.” “I never thought I would see the day when our American President would stand on the stage with the Russian President and place blame on the United States for Russian aggression.
