Re: Carry in a post office and police station???

My CHL instructors had a different take regarding Grapevine Mills. They said that 30.06 must be posted at each public entrance according to the law (size, colors, prominence, etc.). Wishful thinking, unfortunately. When 30.06 defines the requirements for legal notice "every entrance" is n...

Re: Carry @ Gun Range/Store?

At Cheaper than Dirt, they have made it clear that you can carry, but if you want advice or accessories for your CCW, you need to go to your vehicle, unholster it, unload it, and then return inside with it. You cannot remove your concealed firearm in public. I've never carried inside a range, but I ...

Re: CHL?

I know this is hotly debated here, but I'll throw in my $0.02. I present my CHL anytime I'm asked for DL by a LEO regardless of if I'm carrying or not. Why? 1) CHL instructors advised us to as a courtesy. 2) My Brother-in-law is a LEO, and he said he appreciates it. 3) It identifies me (in general) ...

Re: oral notice

A verbal notice isn't worth the paper it's written on. hahahaha. What if you're deaf? Hard-of-hearing? Had your iPod turned up? Weren't listening? Were daydreaming? Had your bluetooth in and were engrossed in conversation? Part of delivering a message is confirming that it was received, or he could...

I'm not surprised they robbed an Academy. . . I'm surprised they only took cash and didn't hit the gun counter.

Re: Once posted always posted?

My CHL instructor commented specifically about hidden signs. . . GMM used to have brass engraved 30.06 signs on the side wall after you entered. The law is clear: the sign must be visible, in high-contrasting colors, in Spanish and in English, with a minimum of 1-inch letters. My instructors usually...

Re: Carry in a post office and police station???

I did a search and see the mall question has been heavily discussed. I'll see what others have said about it.

Re: Carry in a post office and police station???

My CHL instructors had a different take regarding Grapevine Mills. They said that 30.06 must be posted at each public entrance according to the law (size, colors, prominence, etc.). They just said to pick your entrance carefully. . . if you entered a legal public entrance and were not notified, then...

Re: Indoor Range in Roanoke

Thank you...We are working hard to get things off center. Architecture and other issues are completed, now we look for some calming on the economy and banking in order to help us keep the momentum. I just called AGW and talked to somebody who was very polite and helpful. They apologized for not bei...

Re: Haltom City RPC

A guy we go to church with is a member and invited a lot of us out when they had an "open" weekend. I think we paid a $7 guest fee for the day. It was very nice. . . if I lived a little closer I'd join in a heartbeat. It might get hot in the summer, but it's covered and they have plenty of...

Let me know if I can help! I'll pick up a shovel, a drill, a hammer, volunteer my truck. . . trade weekend-warrior labor for a membership? :woohoo :hurry:  :thewave :anamatedbanana :clapping: :tiphat: :cheers2: :thumbs2: I live nearby and work from home, and I've been anxiously awaiting this ...

Re: Asking a school for permission to carry (my story)

Thanks! I was afraid I stirred up "Chevy vs. Ford" or something.

I look forward to seeing what I can learn here, and I love the manners on this board compared to another one I tried but never posted on.

Re: Asking a school for permission to carry (my story)

sigh ... Was this at me? I just joined the forum, so I guess I'll apologize if the "weapon" vs. "firearm" debate is an oft repeated discussion on this forum. There's always a hot-button issue on any forum, and it's newbies like me that usually stir them up. . . . still, when dea...

Re: Asking a school for permission to carry (my story)

Well done! My only advice is to replace the word "weapon" with "firearm" in future discussions. "Weapon" carries a negative, aggressive connotation that gives you an initial psychological disadvantage with people who are already predisposed to hating firearms.
