Re: Knock at the door claiming to be the police
FWIW I'm glad to hear the office had sound tactics. Not being able to see him or his car makes it much harder to ambush. Now that I'm in the greater houston LEO community, I see a good deal of pulling up the front of the house. I always parked a few doors down and approached on foot through the area...

Re: Pondering a .308 bolt-gun
The entry level savage and Remington offers seem to be the way to go as they have the best market for later adds like stocks, triggers, barrels, and tacticool stuff.
I've been leaning towards the Remington for a while.

Re: Thinking about a Sig P239 for EDC
Sig M4 - thanks for the post. I agree it can be learned and mastered and also that LEOs are not necessarily gun people. That said, the G34 and 1911 variants dominate in competitive shooting, and the numbers get even better when you add M&Ps in the mix. That tells me that those are preferred plat...

Re: Thinking about a Sig P239 for EDC
If aesthetics are important, Sig guns look great (Esp the DAK with wood grips). I think they, like all DA/SA guns shoot horribly on the first shot which is arguably the most critical. This is compounded by a complex manual of arms (decocking to go to low ready, followed by the horrible pull again). ...

WTS: Gen 4 Glock 34 Night Sights - Houston, TX
I'll get pics up tomorrow, but it's a stock G34 with all the new box stuff. It's been a backup pistol and has had exactly 50 rounds throught it (flawlessly). Purchased new in 2013 thinking I would use it for competition but it has sat in the safe for all but a day. It has night sights and I'll inclu...

Re: Contact With Fort Worth PD
No need to tell the dispatcher you have a CHL - it gets too easy to confuse them with unnecessary info. They are entering a paraphrase of what you say so it gets jumbled easily when the officer is ready the call notes on the way over.
Over than that, good eye.

Re: Any Fantasy Football Players - Advice Needed
If wait until season starts and check on google if you ask "who should I start in fantasy football" you'll get some good math stAt sites that will make an educated call.

Re: Maybe going Glock
Capacity isn't a concern. Either one alone is more than adequate although I would never carry without a spare mag available just in case there's a mag failure. I like the 34 as well but I'm not that good a shooter. Too much arthritis. I did win one of the prizes in the B group at a GSSF match and c...
