Re: USA1's Wally Walk
Congratulations! I had my first FULL day of carry yesterday. Holster the Walther in the morning, and LEAVE the sucker there all day long. No need to constantly store it in the glovebox before venturing out in public (I might have had a psychotic break and slaughtered everyone around me :biggrinjeste...

Re: March 2009 Applications
CHL received yesterday!
My 120 days of processing appear to be shorter than the average for Harris County. That could be due to the calls to my state senator & representative's offices....

Re: Suggestions needed for CHL class
Topgun charges $140 which is very expensive. There are some top quality full service classes taught by highly respected instructors around for under $100. I'll admit I didn't do any shopping around before I went to Top Gun. OTOH, it was conveniently located for me, I was very happy with the instruc...

True, thought I think getting the idea ingrained in your head might help ensure you *do* make that call when it does matter. I could see myself getting caught up in the post-even adrenalin rush, and then losing that 911 race

Re: Glad I was carrying
Agree, you handled that well. Remember, though, it's a race to call the police - first one to get through is the injured party. You don't want the cops looking for *you* because the first call they receive is of some madman waving a gun!

I'd take a PPS over a PPK all day long.

Re: March 2009 Applications
Oh, thank god - it's almost over. My status ticked over to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" overnight. Harris County, and processing was four months to the day that they received the app. No missing paperwork, no re-do of fingerprints, etc. I called my state s...

Harris County - good news
I received a call from a staffer in Sen. Gallegos' office. She was following up on my complaint to her on Monday about slow CHL app processing. She told me that yesterday, during her conversation with a DPS contact, that DPS has hired an additional 35 people to work on processing CHL applications. I...

Re: Talked to the office of the Chairman of the Licensing and
Charles, thank you so much for your efforts. I'd emailed you my information earlier when you'd asked for names of people who were currently twisting in the wind, and have called my state senator & rep today to let them know (nicely) of one more disgruntled constituent. Please keep us posted, and...

Re: Harris, Galveston & Brazoria Co's: Email your state reps!
Well, I've joined the rabble-rousers. Called my state senator (Mario Gallegos) and house rep (Ellen Cohen)'s offices today. Had very pleasant conversations with staffers at both locations. The girl at Gallegos' office seemed new, and I explained to her before she called the DPS legislative liason th...

Re: Probably not the smartest thing
Sea World? In San Antonio? Isn't that one of the places where CHLs are expressed prohibited? :rules: I copied this into Word a couple of weeks ago from a thread that was going here: 12 - in an amusement park (county more than 1 million people and park is more than 75 acres controlled entries and is...

Re: first time I noticed printing.
I schlep a laptop & sundry cables, CDs, etc all day, every day. This LowePro backpack looks more business like when carried by the handle, yet has backpack straps as well. Plus it's got a far more practical set of pockets & organizers w/in it. And *I* don't think it screams 'murse'. http://p...
