Re: open carry
Since I'm new, I have not seen the older threads on the subject. I intend to search them out and see if I missed anything. From the comments of the veteran members here, I assume that I have not. The right to keep and bear arms is being infringed. We all know that. We are trying to keep the governme...

Re: Fort Worth man killed in dispute over loud music
Don't know that I think the guy needed killing for playing loud music (could depend on the music though  ) but I sure believe his stereo needed killing! :smash: Stereos don't cause noise pollution. People do. after the cops left is one thing. but I still say you don't leave your house to go &...

Re: My First 1911
I bought myself a Kimber Eclipse Ultra II today. . . . http://www.cherrytreefamily.com/Kimber%20Eclipse%20Ultra2.jpg Sweet! :thumbs2: My next "serious" handgun will be a Kimber Ultra CDP II. A very similar weapon. And it will also be my first 1911. I say that's the next "serious"...

Good point. When they return your fire, you don't want them hitting your family by mistake.Photoman wrote:If you do decide to go all "Dirty Harry," put as much distance between you and your family as you can.
You'll blame yourself for their deaths for the rest of your life.

Re: Hypothetical Situation...
I think you'd be justified in shooting. Maybe not absolutely legally if they're just there for the money from the register, but I think a Texas jury could be convinced that a reasonable person was in fear of losing their life. However, being justified (more or less) does not mean it's a good tactica...

Re: No guns no $ cards
There was a used computer store in Irving when I first got my CHL, back in the late nineties. They had a sign in the window, I don't remember for sure but I think it was the "gunbusters" sign. (Would have no effect now and didn't really mean a whole lot then except that they might ask you ...

Re: Poll: Reasons you have not gotten a CHL?
Almost everyone does one-day courses. It's hard to find one that is held on multiple evenings. That works to my advantage. In the past, all I could ever find when I had money to do it was the multiple weekday evening classes. That was difficult for me because I always seem to have jobs that work od...

Re: Poll: Reasons you have not gotten a CHL?
How far are you from Midland? About the same?? Yeah. Going to Midland/Odessa is about the same as going to Lubbock. Six of one, half a dozen the other. EDIT: I have not yet looked into course schedules. At lest not since before I moved to California in '04. If someone in Lubbock (or in Midland or O...

Re: Poll: Reasons you have not gotten a CHL?
Money. I was one of the first people to get my packet. I sent in the card on the very day they became available. (A guy from my gun store in Mesquite was in Austin waiting for them and drove them home rather than waiting on the mail. He then called his customers who had told him they wanted to be in...

Re: Road Rage incident
Interesting first post. If the guy shot at me, I would stop and return fire. I disagree. If you're in your vehicle and the vehicle is running, then that vehicle is a much more powerful weapon than any firearm you're likely to have with you. Could that be construed as "escalating" the situ...

Re: Check the Chamber
But the potential for disaster when leaving the firing line not knowing that I had a round in the chamber still boggles my mind. Easily remedied by always unloading and opening the action of the firearm before leaving the line. Semi-auto's= Slide locked back (if it is designed to do so). . . . That...

Re: Introduce yourself
New here. 39-year-old male. Been shooting since I was about seven. Got my first gun, a .22 rifle, for my eighth birthday. My first handgun was a Smith & Wesson Performance Center Shorty Forty. I bought it in my twenties when living in Garland. A few years later I bought a Smith & Wesson Sigm...

Check the Chamber
First post here. (Hi.) I was living in San Diego, California a few years ago. I met a lady and her husband who were into shooting. The guy was active Navy and a firearms instructor of some sort in the Navy. The three of us went to a range together. I had my Smith & Wesson Sigma .40. They brought...
