Re: Extra Magazine Carry

I usually run one in a old leatherman pouch. An no one seems to ask why I have two leathermans on me... I might throw a few (maybe a extra gun too) in my vehicles or backpack depending on what im doing. What i definitely do have everywhere are Tourniquet and IFAK kits. I can never have enough of tho...

Re: Holy Moly gun found in passengers carryon at IAH

I wonder how well that would have gone over in a less friendly state, to just let him continue on without it.

Its either on me or in a dedicated gun bag. What i am always worried about are my knives, i have walked through check points with more knives then either of us would like to admit.

Retention holster for a M&P with RMR

RMRs (Red Dots) on carry handguns are becoming more and more common. S&W even sells a CORE model that is optics ready. The problem is I cant find a retention holster (not just friction) that will work with one. Safariland has a ALS based one for Glocks and you can order a M&P one from them, ...

Re: Pistol Wear

I have one and am not a big fan of it unless i need some rather deep cover. I found it hard to access and it moved around to much for me. It looked pretty obvious i had something under my shirt. Since i already look awkward enough running i figured there is no point in trying to go that discrete wit...

Re: opinions on a safety concern with holster

As long as you practice then there should be no problems. I know a few people who refuse to go appendix IWB or IWB at all because of where the muzzle is pointing. They will even recite news articles of people shooting themselves. They of course skip over the fact that it happens when they are not us...

Re: Show your DIY Ideas and Projects

This may belong in another heading since I didn't build it. I always try and find 'plain' looking bags to hold most of my stuff when i can and 6 bucks for a ammo bag is not to bad. Wal-mart has some cheap tool boxes that i use to hold my ammo. Driving around with a vehicle full of "Craftsmans ...

How receptive are ranges to new instructors
Not very :P

Finding a range that will let you qualify is usually the hardest part. Everything else is cake after that. Good luck.

Re: Some cold, hard truth about open carry

Who ever does a gun grab "just for fun" deserves a few "just for fun". Whether that few are strikes to the face or rounds to the body will depend on how well i know that person. But anytime i carry OWB i do so with some type of retention holster. Both in competition, class or in ...

Re: Benelli Nova shotgun sight question.

I have been running a Nova for years. 3 gun, Sporting Clays, Skeet, and more. I use this thing for everything and it has never failed me. Wouldn't trade it for anything. The rear 'open' sight fell off years ago and i never noticed until i had to do some stuff with slugs. Called up Benelli and they s...

Re: AK on the way

Big fan of the AK, i have a arsenal SGL-21 that i love. Been planning on picking up a 5.45 sometime soon. I like to keep them as stock as possible but i do have a RS AKM with a red dot that i have but never really use. Might switch that out for a scope. I did put a houge grip on it for i found the s...

Re: One in the chamber or not?

M&Pc here with one in the chamber, no safety, stock (for now) 6.5lb trigger. How heavy of a trigger pull is The_Busy_Mom's trigger pull with the hammer back? If its a decent weight then i dont see how it would be any more risky than a striker fired handgun of a decent weight, or any firearm hamm...

Re: Improper 51% posting?

I believe you can look them up: http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/publicinquiry/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (i think that's the link) to see if they are allowed to have the sign. If not i think (not certain) that they can actually be fined for it.

Re: Have A Hearing Problem??

Had one come through in a group who could not hear. With it being a group class it made it difficult because he could not hear the lecture nor the range commands. What we had to do was set up a private class just for him.

Re: New Photo

Going to be showing off your CHL a lot? :P I think you can submit for a new license, using the lost or stolen method. I remember they will replace it to add on things like "Instructor" or "Veteran" if you qualify so i would think a change of picture should be fine. I don't rememb...
