Re: College Classes
That class is a JOKE!!!!! That class is SOOO easy for the handgun proficiency. You don't even have to hit into the circle on the target to get qualified for the handgun permit there.

Re: Active Duty Army and the Shooting Portion of the CHL
I would just call DPS and ask. I haven't been able to find anything on DPS website except law enforcement and certain other people are exempt but it doesn't say anything about active duty military. Just from what I know about military is that they just because you are in the military doesn't mean yo...

Re: Glock .40 S&W trade ins at GT Distributors
You also have to be law enforcement or in the academy with an acceptance letter to purchase firearms if I remember correctly. Isn't going to help much because when we called to get the husband who was accepted into the academy, the Glock 22 and 23 were backordered and they weren't sure exactly when ...

Re: New CHL'er in the Dallas area
All great advice, especially that seat belt analogy! My parents live in South Dallas off Samuell and I30. It's pretty bad down there. We're no strangers to frightening neighborhoods. Before I knew her, she was assaulted in a rough area.It was pretty bad. For these reasons, I'm surprised she doesn't...

Re: Am I too naive or am I missing something?
The short answer would be that those who do so, do so for the same reasons that most LEOs do so. You can have your primary suffer a mechanical failure...... Your primary can run out of ammo...... Your primary can get taken or lost in a scuffle...... Your BUG is accessible more quickly than reloadin...

Re: Husband Bought new Gun
Hopefully even if he goes to a major city/county/state agency is that if he already has his TCLEOSE they won't send him through their own academy, they will just put him with a FTO. Be prepared for another academy if he does go this way. When I went through SAPD's academy, I had all sorts of former...

Re: Husband Bought new Gun
One thing I would recommend is to start looking for a police job now, while he is int he academy. In most cases, the hiring process for a department is three months long (can be done quicker and can take a lot longer), they need time to do a background check and all. So, if he applies while in the ...

Re: Husband Bought new Gun
...it's great that he gets to choose his own gear...doesn't have to put up with lesser quality if the dept. issues cheap stuff...we began by buying our own...after about 4 years, Federal money bought us all new revolvers, rigs, and 18 rounds of ammo each...we were told no modifications, no changes....

Re: Husband Bought new Gun
He should have got hired on with a Agency that supplied his gear. Well, he would have but he felt like that if he already HAD his TCLEOSE when he gets hired on, it will be better because he's more marketable, they won't have to send him through the academy and spend that extra money themselves.
