What is a "school zone"?
It's illegal to carry within 1000 ft. of a "school zone." So what's a school zone? The edge of its 20-acre athletic field? The "school zone" per the reduced speed limit? The buildings or parking lot? In a tiny (pop. 300) town we live near, 1000 ft. from the school's property woul...

Re: Posted but manager says ignore it?
I have often wondered about this. Say I've known the owner/manager personally for 25 years and he casually says, "naw, that's OK, come on in." Am I in violation? Another angle to this: prepaid legal services ONLY assist you in situations where you were carrying legally. Would they do so in...

Re: Art Acevedo to be named Houston Police Chief :(
The real threat to Texas is the California refugees who come like locusts and turn the state into what they fled. That and the Feds enfranchising millions of illegals so they can vote Democrat. You know... there is some truth in that. Colorado has been feeling this for a long time. Another state wi...

Re: Art Acevedo to be named Houston Police Chief :(
Likely that APD Chief of Staff Brian Manley will be interim chief.
He was being considered for the San Antonio chief position last year, but withdrew after APD gave him a raise from 206K to 216K. Salary for the outgoing Houston chief is 275K. (cough, cough.....)

Re: Houston, We May Have a Problem: Art Acevedo
Yep just lovely. I have been worried about Houston for a while now. It keeps getting bluer and bluer. One of the many reason I moved out to the burbs in Richmond. I worry that if Houston keeps getting bluer we might lose Texas. If Texas goes blue then its game over as far as national races go. Not ...

Re: Protesters surround police and try to free protesters - Austin
Where is Obama and Hillary at to stop this madness? Why have they not spoken out to urge people to stop protesting? Or have I missed that part of the news? Hillary is in a better position than anybody to calm this mess down. But today she was addressing a crowd of her supporters and said, and I quo...

Ruth Ginsburg was planning to resign after HRC got elected, but now she's going to stay on the bench until she becomes a skeleton covered with cobwebs, to prevent Trump from replacing her with a conservative.

California Proposition 63 passes as follows: - Requires individuals to pass a background check and obtain Department of Justice authorization to purchase ammunition. ... ... Wow. Re: Will Hillary go to Jail?
I don't think Trump should be involved at all. Presidents usually aren't involved in law enforcement activities. He should tell the AG, et. al. to do their jobs, then stand back and let it unfold.

New IWB holster (Clinger Stingray)
Just got my first IWB holster. I never thought I'd have an IWB, but this one changed my mind. Clinger is a somewhat new company, still assembling these one at a time. Takes 2-3 weeks to get it, but it's worth the wait. Just $39 plus about $6 shipping. Lifetime warranty. My model is the "Stingra...

It's easy to sit back and snicker at those who talk about this question, but the reality is that we're suprisingly close to the edge. It wouldn't take much to throw us off the cliff. People want to just sip their Starbucks lattes and they're happy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not into foil-hat paranoia,...

Re: The tragedy of the killed Pizza Hut robber
I have a feeling that based on their comments the parents never taught this boy respect, responsibility, values or principles... Yeah, nice job you did raising your kid. He's out committing armed robbery, instead of getting ready for college. Sheesh. Oh, maybe he was going to use the money to pay h...

Re: Deadly Force, Theft At Night, Burglary, etc.
I always wondered just how far this language can be applied. According to this, if you see some kid swiping your lawn sprinkler after dark, you can blow his head off. That can't be right.
