Re: AK choke
Well, cleaned/inspected....nuthin'. The only thing that looked suspicious is that there was some 'marking' on the safety bar just behind the hammer and stuff. I wonder if the carrier was catching it a smidge? My Google-Fu doesn't indicate anything like that. Either way, it's another excuse to take i...

Re: AK choke
Plainly, either you are lying, or this is not an AK! This never happened. AKs are 100% all the time every time reliable and never malfunction. That's ok. I've been known to tell a fib now and again, particularly when drinking. Have you changed solvent/lubricant brands since your last rang...

AK choke
I took my yugo underfolder out for a range trip this weekend. Normally this is uneventful but the thing started to malfunction. Specifically, I'd fire a couple of rounds, and then it'd not complete the cycle. It would eject the empty case, but it wouldn't strip the next round into the chamber. I cou...

Found some Garand Food
Private sale near me for $0.52 per round! By the sounds of it, the old guy took care of it (i.e. properly stored). I think I'll pull one bullet and have a lookit the guts n' such. I'm pretty stoked as I've never shot these in my Garand. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v321/mhiscock/FA/Garand/20140...

Re: Range day with new Vortex scope
I concurr: The SWFA scopes are quite nice but are sometimes not the easiest to find. I had a 10x fixed MILDOT on an AR10 rifle and it worked great.

Re: I want a 7.62 / .308
I'd say the advantage goes to current production guns. The older ones can be ruined by running ammo currently produced. Back in the day ammo wasn't loaded as hot as it is today. Running current production loads through an old gun will bend the operating rod. That is most certainly not true. The new...

Re: Springfield M1A-1
The M14/M1A is the rifle John Garand should have designed. Lower recoil than the M1, Higher round capacity and even a "bad" one will hold "minute of bad guy" at 400 yards. Try Bud's Gun Shop online. :tiphat: Really? I find the M1 recoil....errrr....stifled a bit by the shear siz...

Re: Springfield M1A-1
Had one, shot great, but some substandard parts (produced elesewhere) gave me fits so I got rid of it. The only other bummer I remember is that mags were a bit pricy at the time. That being said, it is easy to scope using a piece that cantilevers off the side of the receiver. Several folks make them...

Re: Ruger 762
I hear ya. I got a first gen LAR-8 and it was a jam-o-matic. After that, I had a real lust for the RFB when it first came out. Since I had a metric FAL, I could use the same mags. They're now in Gen 3, and they appear to be getting even better. Perhaps I'm better off just saving my dough for one of ...

Re: New tactical unloader accessory
It does not help accuracy much. I figure perhaps +/- .01 MOA. Definitely drops recoil by at least 1/16oz. Helps reduce flinching for sure. I'll have to do a study, but it may even help with fertility. I also sport some tactical facial hair, though I do not let it grow long enough to twist like that....

Re: Russian steel 308 ammo test
I had some TULA 308 blow up in my FAL. Blew smootchz out the ejection port and the rest of the blast went down through the mag. Blew out the base plate and puffed-out the rest of my now ruined Austrian mag. Picked up 3 other cases and all showed indications of high pressure including flattened prime...

Ruger 762
I have a 18" FAL. It is a beast and a fun one at that. Ruger now has a gas-piston AR-type rifle. It is not so much of a beast and everyone gives it thumbs up. It also takes Magpul 308 mags. I want one, but I'm at a stage where if one comes in, the other's gotta go! Considering the condition and...

Re: Pictures of your "Black Guns"
Yugo AK underfolder with a few goodies slapped on it. Trigger is surprisingly....mediocre.... for an AK. Kinda like it.

Re: Pictures of your "Black Guns"
I hear that the Beretta CX is fun but that the triggers kinda suck. I'd be interested on what you think of it after you get a few hundred rounds down the pipe.
