Re: Texas State Fair

I carried into the State Fair today. At the gate entrance, I told the guy with the wand that I needed to see a police officer. He asked why and I said CHL. He said that he was the one and asked for my CHL and drivers licenses. He then told me to proceed to the police officer in the elevated stand t...

Re: New Article: Stop Posting Unenforceable 30.06 Signs

It's not legal. Find Charles thread about how to report them to the state. I wonder how one can deal with such short-term events. By the time you give notice the festival is over. What's to keep them from doing it every year knowing the statute is not written to address a 3-day event? It seems to m...

Note that if it wasn't for the carom, the ball would never have cleared the crossbar.

Re: The FBI considers all of us suspects now

Knowing that my prints are on file due to such things as clearances and employment as a LEO is different than having them searchable as if they were part of a criminal database. I'm wondering if open records requests of how many times your prints have been searched and by whom the request was made m...

Re: Texas State Fair

Their website says otherwise: Weapons and sharp metal objects, such as pocket knives, scissors and the like, are not allowed. The State of Texas does allow a person holding a valid concealed handgun license to enter into Fair Park with a concealed handgun. However, during the State Fair of Texas an...

Re: One in the chamber?

The IDPA club I used to belong to tried an ad hoc test of the concept. We proved two things. First, if you don't practice with a particular technique, you will not be proficient at it. Read that to mean that most of us carried with a round in the chamber. Second, it is slower to draw and rack the sl...

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

. . . As to the red...I already gave my answer in a previous post: putting the disassembled clock in something other than the original enclosure makes it look "homemade." His motive was probably to claim he created something when he actually did not. The case is 8"x5.5"x2"....

Re: History Channel Makes a startling discovery.

I was watching a History Channel show about Neanderthals. I didn't catch it all but they were showing some pools of water from a volcanic source and said the water temperature was 300 Degrees F. Like new math I guess that's the new physics. "rlol" "rlol" "rlol" Maybe t...

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

IED1.png Here's an actual xray pic of a bag with an IED in it. Yes, it is a briefcase, somewhat larger than Ahmed the bomber's little thing with the clock in it, but serves to demonstrate. The explosive in the bag is a flat sheet just thick enough to anchor the detonator, but in Ahmed the bomber's ...

Re: History Channel Makes a startling discovery.

With all due respect, if you're watching the History Channel and expecting to find real history, or anything else accurately portrayed, you'd be better off watching Bugs Bunny. They have, pardon the pun, a pretty sad history of gross inaccuracies. :iagree: Your assumption that I want to belittle ot...

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

You and others keep saying it looks like a bomb or a hoax bomb...hooey. As the photo above shows it looks like, and is, a disassembled alarm clock. I get that scientific and technical knowledge in this country is at pretty pathetic levels, but one would pretty much have to be a technophobe or have ...

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

I was a major nerd and built an Argon LASER for my 7th grade science fair. Lost to a mold experiment. In fifth grade I built a random logic circuit and lost to something equally lame. So I understand nerd, I am a card carrying nerd. But I also realize when someone does something for a reaction. To ...

Re: Nerdy 14 year old brings homemade clock to school and is arrested

BTW, when I was with TSA, I was "privileged" to find this in a bag that had triggered an alarm for a different reason. Despite the obvious non-bomb nature of the device, the passenger whose bag it was in was arrested for his hoax bomb. After his arrest he was in the hands of Dallas Police ...
