What I learned in my first 4 years.

My renewal is coming up here soon and realizing that made me sit back and reminisce for a bit on the last 4 years. Here are some thoughts I've had rattling in my head, make use of em if you can. 1. Carry always, carry with a round chambered and PRACTICE DRAWING YOUR WEAPON. I've only had to place my...

Re: Charles Cotton is famous?!

I slammed a reporter a few years ago who published a story of a CHL holder stopping a crime (can't remember the details of the article) but the pic they chose to put up to represent the article was some idiotic image with an obvious thug's waist line and a beretta hanging out... no holster, barely h...

Charles Cotton is famous?!

While open carry and campus carry bills have advanced in the Texas legislature, other states that are not necessarily considered gun friendly are moving forward with easing gun restrictions. It seems like there is a comeback being made by gun rights. Charles Cotton is a board member with the NRA an...

Re: Sig nightmare carry 1911

had a couple too many last night and today's hangover limited my shooting time. I did manage to get 48 rounds down the pipe and WOW, this thing shoots reaaaal nice, Clark. I managed a group of 16 rds into about 7-8" a group (based on an eyeball measurement) from about 40-50 ft away from the pap...

Re: Sig nightmare carry 1911

I didn't know 'bobtail' was copyrighted either, until I spoke with someone who has intimate knowledge of all things Sig.

Tam - I custom ordered it that way to make sure no dirty southpaws can pick it up and use it ;)

thanks!

Re: Sig nightmare carry 1911

'fastback' refers to the curved mainspring housing. i think 'bobtail' is the more common term but that word is copyrighted so Sig calls them 'fastback.'

Re: 1911 or Other Semiauto?

I've owned and carried about 15 different handguns in the 4 years I've had my CHL. I Started off with a Walther PK380 and once I understood the sales/purchasing laws for firearms in TX, it's been a blur of weapons in and out of my hands. I agree that you need to shoot something and find a weapon you...

Re: Does WalMart have a new policy?

The register is programmed to alert the cashier if an age restriction policy is in place for the particular product being purchased. I've never been asked for ID at my wal mart ammo counter, but they know me well at that store. Sounds to me like you may have had a rookie cashier helping you and the ...

ok, thanks y'all - the clarification on the process was what I needed... looks like it might not be a slam dunk after all. Never really paid any attention to politics until i started paying taxes for my small businesses so, I'm still learning.

I agree that we're not there yet, but with a 98-52 Republican majority I don't foresee failure.

Re: Backyard burger and wiener roasts targeted by EPA

I guess they're too stupid to understand the burning grease is part of what makes 'em taste good... :thumbs2: Hey, if you're dumb enough to be vegan, you're just not going to get this. We should be praying that they can find an adequate assisted living facility (with really big padlocks on the door...
