Re: Uninformed CHLer or is he right?
Handing him the CHL is you saying "I have a gun" and would be interpreted as such by the LOE. The LOE will ask where is the gun. You don't necessarily have to tell him where it is, but you're only creating pain for yourself if you try and be evasive for no reason. No, it is saying that I ...

Re: Carrying at an INS checkpoint
Why does everyone qualify their statements with "I am not a lawyer?" Has anyone ever been sued for posting faulty legal information on an internet forum that someone followed because they assumed it's correct? Why don't we just assume from the get-go that none of us are lawyers unless othe...

Re: Carrying at an INS checkpoint
Do feds even have access to the DPS database that would tell them when they run our DL that we are CHL holders?

Re: SB730 - Emloyer parking lot bill being debated now
I am very happy to hear that institutes of higher education were not exempted from the provision. Next session, if this passes, hopefully we can get that exemption removed so teachers can protect themselves like everyone else.

Re: SB730 - Emloyer parking lot bill being debated now
I am very disappointed to hear that Hegar wants to exempt schools. Do schools have some lobbying force that out-powers even the petrochemical industry?!?! I guess I'd still support this bill even if it would no longer benefit me directly. :( I sent an email to him anyway thanking him for authoring t...

Re: Question about prohibiting carry
Do metal detectors alone count for verbal notice? I wouldn't think so, unless there is someone standing there saying no firearms allowed. Metal detectors are kind of useless without an attendant monitoring them. But the person giving you verbal notice needs to have the authority of the building own...

Re: ACTION NEEDED! Employer parking lot bills
What does this mean "left pending in committee?" I have not had a chance to watch the video yet. Did the committee vote to allow this bill to go before the house for a vote? Will the committee vote?

Re: Carrying in a public daycare?
In no way an expert, but do they have any sort of accreditation? Does their policy/handbook mention anything? As far as I know there is no accreditation. This is a private business that is owned by a woman and her husband. There are school aged children in the building awaiting pick-up from their p...

Sea World is not posted 30.06 so it is not off limits. Just be mindful they do bag checks. No metal detectors or pat downs. I do not remember if Six Flags is posted as it has been a few years since we went there. The zoo is not posted either. There are lots of places to go and I have only ever seen...

Re: Carrying in a public daycare?
Curious, the way the law is written, what qualifies as a school? Same question came up the other day on a separate thread. Texas Penal Code does not define "school" so we're all left to guessing what qualifies. I take the common sense approach. When it comes to daycare, the only thing tha...
