Post by FuziDave »

there's a zoning request for a new gun range at 15th and Independence.

you can comment FOR or AGAINST it here:
http://planogis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Cr ... eb72ea4ff0

it's "ZC2018-024 (SPECIFIC USE PERMIT)".

there's also a zoning request for a gun range at Mapleshade and Ohio.

it's "ZC2018-029"

I hope one or both get approved but I also hope they are not so expensive one needs to take out a second mortgage to shoot at them.

Thanks for the info. I just voted. I live close by and would love to see this develope. I drive past this everyday to and from work. It would be soooo sweet.
Gun control is like stopping drunk driving by making it harder for sober people to drive.

You Plano (or close) folks better get signed up "in favor of" as the opposed seem to way outnumber you!

I live close by and put in my vote in favor.

I struggle a little understanding why people would be so opposed.

Noise, some people don't want ant more noise in their neighborhood.
Stray bullets
Some people have an irrational fear of guns hate them and they don't want anyone else to have or enjoy them.
Property values. big landowners afraid that gun ranges lower price of property.
People are often opposed to things that wouldn't benefit them personally. Some people are so afraid that others might enjoy something and hate seeing people happy.

I wonder the same thing about medical marijuana.

I think one big issue is that people who appose a gun range use propaganda to scare the people in the area into believing it will affect values and/or comfort. It is irrational fears at best but it works.

The average "city dweller" does not understand guns and is easily swayed by talk of "stray" bullets and noise associated with an indoor gun range.

City of Plano Planning and Zoning denied the request for SUP 6-1. for the one at 15th and independence. The one at Mapleshade and Ohio was approved.

Interesting. I went thru the detailed list of people who filled out the form in favor or in opposition. I couldn't find my name or address listed. I know I filled out the form in favor. However, I see several instances where the same name is listed twice in opposition. Something smells fishy.
