Troubling Trump nomination for ATF Director?

Charles, I’m hoping you can tell us the NRA's stance on the Trump nomination of Chuck Canterbury, Jr. as the next ATF director. I ran across this link (below), but it seems to be another mouthpiece for NAGR - a group in which I have little confidence. BUT.... if what the article says is true, than this appointment would be a disaster for gun owners. Can you shed some light on this please?

In his official capacity as President of the National Fraternal Order of Police, Canterbury has:
  • *** Supported radical anti-gun Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

*** Supported former Attorney General Eric Holder -- Obama’s head honcho who ran the deadly Fast and Furious gun running program.

*** Supported expanding the federal government’s gun registration schemes.

NSSF PRAISES NOMINATION OF CHUCK CANTERBURY FOR ATF DIRECTOR

Trump is not draining the swamp as much as he is bringing in new swamp creatures. Trump was and is a 4 year delay in complete full steam ahead business as usual by the progressive socialists and fedgov.

Keep buying firearms, ammo, supplies; keep building relationships with like minded people and keep training with your purchases and your people.

NSSF Praises Nomination of Chuck Canterbury for ATF Director

The NRA.org website comes up with 10 references when searched for "Chuck Canterbury", much, if not all of it, related to Bloomberg/MAIG opposition to the Tiahrt Amendment and Canterbury/FOP's support for it. Canterbury/FOB also are thanked by the NRA for supporting the Protection of Commerce in Arms Act and opposition to microstamping, and support for "countless others." It's not terribly recent (2011) but seems not...anti-gun.

This Politico article: https://www.politico.com/story/2019/05/ ... ce-1344970
seems to credit the NRA with being able to squelch unwanted ATF director appointees, so if the NRA supports Canterbury I'm going to think he might not be "perfect" but is not "anti-gun."

I "Binged" on Canterbury's name and I saw several headlines claiming Canterbury is "anti gun" but they are all websites that I never heard of.

I think I am going to wait before I get my shorts in a bunch.

I don't know anything about him. I'll try to find out.

ATF, by definition is troubling as it is the very definition of infringment, and therefore unconstitutional.

Thanks Charles. I appreciate it. I’m generally suspicious of anything that issues forth from NAGR, but I wanted to be certain.
