The kid had a knife. Visited his mother in Syria for summers. Father lives in Canada and mother in Syria Parents divorced when he was 5. Are women allowed to get a divorce in Sryria?

Re: Toronto PoliceShooting
It looks like a case of excessive force and unjustified. The young man was either on drugs or suffering from mental issues. Teaser was deployed after the fired shots. It should be the other way around. Teaser first, then deadly force when warranted.
One does not tease a dying young man.
This case would end in trial and big sum of money for the estate of the dead young man.

Yes. There are Christian and Muslims and others in Syria. State is a secular socialist system run by a dictator and his clan.psijac wrote:The kid had a knife. Visited his mother in Syria for summers. Well, this one's kinda gray. It could go either way. He did have a knife and he was 20 ft-ish from the officer. I think most lethal force experts say that you want to keep at least 20 feet between you and the guy with the knife. Also, unlike Las Vegas/L.A./NYC/Chicago officers, these officers didn't confiscate the phone of nor try to stop the person rolling video. A lot of corrupt police departments will confiscate your phone saying that it's "obstruction of a police officer", which is bull stuff. However, they did not try to do this.Beiruty wrote:It looks like a case of excessive force and unjustified. The young man was either on drugs or suffering from mental issues. I'm not saying that it's bad police work to shoot the guy with the knife, BUT there clearly is an attempt at a cover-up because after firing 3 shots, after a long pause, the officer shoots the guy AGAIN WITH SIX MORE SHOTS to make sure that he's dead. Then, he tasers him to make absolutely sure that he stops the perp's heart permanently. Any civilian that shoots a guy already on the ground is gonna get sent to jail. See the Oklahoma pharmacist who went to jail shooting a teen thug robbing his pharmacy. How much ya wanna bet this cop doesn't do ANY jail time? There is no liberty in the world anymore....

Well, the kid was less than 20 feet away, but he was also still inside the streetcar, and from all appearances when he was first shot he fell away from the camera, I am not sure the officer doing the shooting, and it appeared to be only one of the many, could see much more than his legs when he continued to shoot.drjoker wrote:Well, this one's kinda gray. The spacing of the shots is very "interesting."

Re: Toronto PoliceShooting
Here we go again with the immediate judgement for a leo shooting w/o knowing all the facts I would like to see video from the cops view... that doesn't show what he saw to cause him to fire. Since there is no apparent video God forbid we wait to hear what the officer felt/saw before jumping to a conclusion that it was not justified...
BTW: in case anybody is interested in second guessing leo's in person there is an anti APD protest today at APD HQ.

Re: Toronto PoliceShooting
There were 23 cops surrounding the streetcar. Of those 22 of them did not feel the need to shoot anyone. Not even the cop that was closest to the door, who didn't even had his gun out. Hmm.

Re: Toronto PoliceShooting
I wonder if there wasn't someone else still on the streetcar that he was moving towards. That's about the only reason I can think of why the officer would shot at that time.

Re: Toronto PoliceShooting
If the alleged news is correct, they had an alleged sex offender with a weapon in public. He allegedly refused to drop the weapon after being ordered to multiple times. Excessive force or not, I don't have a lot of sympathy.

Canada is weird. They don't have much of a gun culture but the mall cops wear visible body armor.airbornecpa wrote:I searched but have not seen this in here. What appears to be a very bad shooting by Toronto police.
