rotor,

Everyone with a sense of self preservation who migrates here has my sincere hearty "Glad to Meet You" handshake.

It's the sad sack cases I mentioned earlier who come here and espouse their pseudo-Mahatma Gandhi attitude of non-violence that baffles me.

Their view isn't simply non-violence, it's take my wallet, my life or whatever pleases you while I impotently stand by. And, that includes harming their family too.

I don't understand this.

Survival and it's efforts seem something these cretins sneer at...

Two children stabbed in elevator attack by a 20 year old. One of the children a 6 year old died. Previously a med student was stabbed to death in an elevator.

Never thought of an elevator as being a dangerous place. Only in New York.

Elevators violate all the safety rules. It's close quarters with no exit which makes a concealed handgun pretty much a useless defensive weapon. I avoid them (and stairwells for that matter) as much as possible.

High school cheerleader shot execution style a few days after graduation. Her parents will use her college savings to bury her.

She wanted to be a nurse.

Her boyfriend survived to tell the story of being ordered on their knees and being shot. No motive was given for the killing.

With a name like Gun, I'm totally shocked this man is even allowed to live in NYC.

Ban hammers in New York, then they will have peace.

I'm a little suspicious of that account, as apparently are many of the commenters after the article.

As someone who was born on Long Island, and still has a lot of family there I have to chime in here. Sadly New York gets a bad rap (deservedly so 99% of the time) but all New Yorkers aren't libs. Most of my family are active hunters and gun owners and Upstate New York is full of like minded people. Unfortunately the majority of NYC is liberal and NYC is the most densely populated area in the state. So that's who the politicians pander too. It ends up being that old saying NYC sneazes and the rest of the state catches a cold. So please don't blame all of NY. Just the stupid ones in large numbers.

From the "For What It's Worth" department:

I've been all over New York state. Still, when I hear the term "New Yorker", an NYC resident is what pops into my head. I'll bet 99% of people do the same.

Don't worry. I treat New York the same way we probably all treat Austin.
