Chicago Deadly Weekend

#1

Post by carlson1 »

Chicago police beefed up patrols for Memorial Day as more than 60 people were shot during the violent three-day holiday weekend.

By Monday evening, at least 63 people had been shot across the city since Friday afternoon, including five who were killed. This surpasses the number of people shot during last year's Memorial Day weekend, though Chicago Police News Affairs said murders are down 50 percent compared to last Memorial Day.
One of the news stories I watched had a Community Organizer suggesting that the Mayor appoint him as a "Violence Preventive Czar."

They just don't get it. The mayor, the city council(or what ever form of local government they have), the police chief, the police commissioner...they just don't understand the obvious fact, that the shootings they have in that city are inversely proportional to the number of guns held by the LAW ABIDING citizens in that city.

I suspect that the Chicago crime families are happy with unarmed targets, as are the gangs. Law abiding citizens who are armed would create a dangerous work environment for those criminals.

If you will only look at the criminals you have just named you will see what the problem is .

Murders are down 50% compared to last year. Well that's nice. The problem is that the difference between a "shooting" and a "murder" is accuracy. Murder rates don't tell the whole story. Total violent crime numbers are what's important, and most major cities (including Chicago) have plenty of that. Carry always, be aware of your surroundings, and use your brain. Oh, and don't be a street thug. That reduces your chances of getting shot tremendously.

^^^^^^^ Certainly an element of that would be true, but the biggest problem is simply 'Cultural'. Chicago's South and West sides are overflowing with 'gangs' and criminal activity. For the most part...they are shooting/killing each other. Until those communities wake up, tell it like it is and take measures to correct the issue....it will continue. We can't 'legislate' morality.

It's a pretty simple 'concept': Stop raising/tolerating thugs and criminals... and violence and crime automatically goes down.

In Chicago the Gangs and Democrats are the same thing. The gangs are the community organizers, Democratic fundraisers and pharmacutical suppliers

You actually get some aldermen who had original ties to gangs before becoming politicians. I believe alderman Burke was one such suspected person.

Illinois has had shall issue CC including Chicago for 2 years now. I'm not sure it has much effect on the violent crime rate. More likely it's a result of inadequate policing and lousy city government in general.
