Post by ajwakeboarder » Thu Jul 07, 2016 8:10 pm

I just heard on the news that shots broke out at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas. Latest word is that 2 cops have been shot.

WFAA is streaming live: http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/dallas-c ... /266881573

Our local NBC affiliate, kxas, CHANNEL 5 has interrupted regular programming and is carrying the events live. They had a news crew covering the protest and they were right there when it happened. They are covering it live at 9:19pm. I heard 2 officers have been shot as well. Apparently the protest had ended, and then the gunfire started.

Just heard from reporter: police tell them that shooter has a rifle. No other details at this time.

Prayers go out to the officers, for their recovery.

Wfaa is live too, people saying ar15 and the anchor John maccaa was very clear that this is what people always describe and we don't know what it was but from the sounds it was a long gun.

I heard some audio it was certainly a semi auto rifle, sounded louder then a .223 but hard to tell with echo on video

I was turning onto Ross Avenue to go home when I saw at least a dozen DPD vehicles rushing downtown. I figured something bad had happened. I get home and check Twitter (the fastest way to get breaking news) and see that officers had been shot.

I'm listening to "Dallas City Police 1 Central and 2 NE" using the Scanner Radio Android app, you can listen to it by going to http://www.bbscanner.com/listen.php?id=20352

Two officers shot.

interviews of some of the marchers, was odd, they were calm and collected.
one man said he jumped out front to get pictures of the crowd..then he heard shots and saw a policeman get shot.

There just isn't a ton yet, but I'll say this John mcaa appears to know something about firearms. He said if it is the type of rifle police say (ar15) then it isn't like the movies the bullet doesn't stop at 100yards
