She is lucky to alive. There are definitely wolves among us and the police can’t be everywhere at once. Luckily, the constable was able to catch one of the guys after the damage was done.

The linked article said nothing about an ATM.
Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said the woman, who runs a check cashing business with her husband, withdrew the money from a bank located at 12907 FM 1960 West Road and was followed by suspects who planned to steal the money from her purse.

They changed their story. The link to the story still says ATM.

There have been multiple stories about situations and the practice has even been given a term: Jugging

https://www.kvia.com/crime/eppd-arrest- ... /393342144

Apparently, one of the tricks is to sit back a few parking rows from the bank and watch people who exit with envelopes or bags. I recently went to the bank to obtain cash to pay a couple of contractors and was reminded by the teller to be careful on my way out.

It is said that if you make three right turns and a vehicle is still following you, it is deliberate. Fortunately, my bank is near our town's police station and I make a detour into to that parking lot on my way home when I've made a large withdrawal. Call me a tin foil hat type but I prefer to try to stack the odds in my favor.

Considering the nature of her business, I'm betting the women was targeted before she ever got to the bank.

I see that now. My apologies. :tiphat:

No apologies necessary. I was mobile when I posted it. I then saw the change, but was unable to get it corrected until after a few posts were made. Sorry, the wife does not appreciate it when I am on my phone typing during dinner. As she should.

I know they got one guy, but did they get the money back?

I assume they were trying to avoid the cost of an armored car service, by doing it themselves.

Never leave a bank with an envelope.

Happened to me. They didn't get a thing, but the car window cost me a $1000. And I'm still finding bits of glass inside the car after 3 years.

I'm surprised they don't have an armored/armed courier service. Probably trying to save a few bucks and look what it's cost them now.

IIRC, the husband came out and got to tussling with the robbers, but was not armed.

They run a check cashing business and they don't have their arms at the ready?
