It appears however, two of the four suspects are in custody already.

And none of the neighbors had a gun? Nobody that witnesses this had a gun?

Dial 911 and Die
Dial 911 and Die is a book that will open your eyes and possibly even save your life, or the life of someone you love. It should be required reading for anyone who doesn't realize that he has primary, if not sole, responsibility for protecting and defending himself. And it's a wonderful resource for those of us who have accepted that responsibility in the face of overwhelming hostility from the uninformed and politically correct. ... Do the police have the obligation to arrest someone who repeatedly violates a domestic violence protective order? No. Can the police ignore an emergency call for assistance in order to do paperwork? Yes. Do the police have the obligation to respond to a 911 call for help? No. What if they promise that "help is on the way"? Do they then have an obligation to respond? Still no. If the police witness a crime in progress, must they intervene to protect the innocent? No again. ...

Dallas met all the proper identity politics in picking their chief. Problem is, the chief is a bumbling fool.

Rick Roberts on am 820 has been harping on this. Apparently there was a serial rapist running around the Dalls area and he killed a lady. It took officers 1.5 hours to respond. The fire dept beat the police to the scene. From some accounts the department is short close to 1000 officers. The city will spend no telling how much money to remove statues but not fully staff the police department to protect its citizens.

Unfortunately the police department and officers will get blamed instead of city management.
In certain extreme situations, the law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law to pursue a natural justice.

On my list of why I carry a gun is the fact the U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled the police have no duty to protect you as an individual only society as a whole!

Yep. The police are not there to Protect. They are there to give reports after the crime is done.

What so many people don't realize about being robbed is that once the badguys have your wallet/purse, they have your ID with your name and address. They can and often do threaten to visit you later. And the likelihood that police will provide you and your family 24/7 protection after a robbery is about zero. So while "giving them what they want" may sound reasonable, in practice it is far from a perfect plan. Especially when dealing with rapists and badguys that like to kill for fun.

I recommend carrying cash in a money clip. Explain to the badguys that the money-clip is all the money you have. You can hand the money-clip over without handing over your ID. If you're unarmed that would be a good time to run. If you're armed, dropping the money on the ground gives you a perfect opening to draw your weapon.

Law Enforcement's job is to draw the chalk outline.

Your job is to ensure it's not YOUR outline.

Very much this. Unless you get win the lottery level lucky, there will not be an officer walk by and stop you being victimized. In a training class back in May there were 4 officers in the class. One of them joked that he carried when off duty because carrying an on duty officer was too heavy.
