TX: Attempted kidnapping on San Antonio Riverwalk

Not on the touristy part of the Riverwalk, but farther south close to King William district.

Thu morning 9:45 man with a gun grabbed a woman. She screamed and broke away, he fled. Witnesses got pictures of his vehicle, police found it on west side of San Antonio and staked it out. When 22 yo man got in vehicle, they arrested him and found a gun in the vehicle. Pix at link.

If that abductor had succeeded in forcing that woman into his vehicle, there would have been no way for law enforcement to issue an emergency alert for her recovery -- even with witnesses who had seen his actions and who had taken photographs of his car (which presumably included the license plate, given how the police tracked him).

If you are pro-2A and interested in preserving gun owners' rights, then it is in your direct interest to contribute positively to every legislative measure intended to curb the violent crime which routinely results in public demands for more gun restrictions.

With that in mind, please contact your State Rep and express your support for HB 1769, which will extend emergency broadcast alert eligibility to adults older than 17 but younger than 65 years of age. Right now in Texas, there is no means of issuing an alert for abducted adults unless they are characterized by intellectual disability (Endangered Alert) or advanced age (Silver Alert). HB 1769 will close that gap, the gap this San Antonio woman would have fallen into, if this perp had succeeded.

Interestingly, this bill was submitted on the very morning that this brazen attempted abduction at gunpoint occurred. Here is the link:
