Gun laws in Uganda are not easy to find out about. Sounds like you can not bring your gun with you. I will say restrictive, as it appears licenses are required, but of course not if your a criminal.

If a ransom is paid it should only be done to separate the hostages from the hostage takers and then the hostage takers should be killed!

Already visited a little over 30 years ago. I have no desire to return.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Me too: Nigeria. About 25 times over the past decade.

Just say no.
Your best option for personal security is a lifelong commitment to avoidance, deterrence, and de-escalation.
When those fail, aim for center mass.

Uganda safe after tourist kidnapping. US has a policy of not paying kidnappers. So I would assume Uganda paid the ransom.

I'm sure by paying the ransom, this will not encourage more kidnappings.

Watching this closely. Scheduled to go to Uganda in May, but not anywhere near Congo border.

State Department raised the caution level for Morocco. King Mo may be losing control of the extremists.

Morocco is where the two young European females were recently killed while on vacation. It was considered the only “safe” place to visit in Africa.

Very sad.
