Ugly Americans?

Very weird circumstances. They rip off a drug dealer. Drug dealer calls police.

Is this how American tourists spend their time in Rome now?

I visited the Vatican and the Spanish steps.

With the two teens being from California it seams like they would of already had drugs with them. Guess ill chip in on a couple bars of soap on a rope, anyone else? ;-)

The college girl who was convicted of murdering her female college roommate in Italy also confessed.

She was later freed and I think just got married.

I’m just kinda confused about the drug dealer calling the police after being robbed of his backpack and the police setting up some kind of sting to catch the American tourists.

I’m sure every American tourist who has had their purse or back pack stolen in Rome is amazed at the go get them attitude of the Rome police.

Then there is the hidden knife in their room. Do they not watch cop shows in the US before they started doing drugs.

I’m going to not rush to judgement.

More information on the two American tourists.

Unnamed source says one a troublemaker.

Italian police carry guns, but were undercover.

Identified from security cameras.

Attorney says now not answering questions.

Police found the hidden knife and bloody clothes, with the confession an open and shut case.

Unlike the Amanda Knox case, the press is focusing on the dead police officer.

So they are the guys, or the Italian police wanted a quick resolution to the murder of one of theirs and these guys happen to look like the murderers and had a hotel room nearby.

Photo leaked showing one of the suspects blind folded.

Police Officer was undercover and was unarmed.

They apparently answered the cell phone that was in the stolen backpack.

My guess the well off parents are rethinking their decision to allow and pay for a trip to Rome for their young sons.

Looking pretty bad for the young American tourists. Sounds like the 18 year old sang like a bird. Hey, I didn’t kill anyone I don’t have to worry. 19 yo feared for his life, being strangled, but judge says no marks on neck.

Or they were tortured into a fake confession, illegal blind fold doesn’t help with that.

Wonder if the police recorded the interrogation, like here in the US.

Not looking good for the stabber.

Apparently beat a kid in high school, kid got a serious brain injury. Juvenile records sealed.
Judge says he claimed self defense as his alibi.

Elicit a confession is sop in some countries. Perhaps a little Sicilian influence.

Suspects cried during interview.

US Marine close quarters knife they brought with them from America.

Can you do that?

Yes if it in your checked bag. Is it legal in Italy? No. Maximum blade length is 3”. They most likely did not go through any baggage inspection in Rome, but they could X-ray the bags behind the scenes looking for stuff.

He admits he did it but is trying to pretend he was acting in self defense. According to the article, he stabbed the cob 11 times? He is dangerous to society. Hopefully they keep him in jail.

Son did not know friend had a knife.

Well apparently, the two Americans were not involved in the murder and this is mistaken identity and a forced confession by Italian police wanting to close the case quickly is now defunct.

Father and friend who is a lawyer interview son and release evidence to press.

I guess it is now a self defense or murder case. Maybe the friend lawyer can move for a change of venue to San Fransisco. If not, we won’t see these kids again.

Ugly Americans.

This recent post is an essay on self defense and goes into why these two kids are toast (as they should be).

When you claim self defense, your saying “ you did it “. Thus if you fail at self defense, your a murderer and the kid who was with his friend is just as much a murderer.
