When your "friends" are all digital images and your main human contact is through texting, it is no surprise that one would lose touch with their ability to feel compassion.
actually, when you're life is all about caregiving, about 99% of your social interaction is online. And yes, they are real friends, I have compassion for them, many I've met at least once, some I've never met....but that doesn't mean I don't weep when one of my friends is diagnosed with cancer or loses a spouse.
And I thank God everyday for you guys and my friends on Facebook who helped keep me sane for over 3 years....and who still do, because I haven't made new friends yet. There are many other reasons people have more on-line real connections than in-person connections.
But you were not raised that way. You, like me and others, were well into being adults before the internet social media influences came about.

...What this country needs is ONE (1) YEAR mandatory military/national service from EVERYONE upon reaching the age of 19 PLUS the voting age should be raised to 24 for everyone EXCEPT active military.
I think we should take it into another direction. Instead of millitarizing more minds why not put more money into upgrading and repairing infrastructure. Roads, bridges, high-speed mass transit.

The mass-produced factory style of education should end at 4th grade. After that our institutions of learning should be open to all (taxpayers) and focused on teaching real skills. Want to become a programmer? Ok, lets get you all the math you need. Want to be a writer? Alright lets start feeding YOU history, literature, and creative writing. Want to dig ditches? Ok here's some weightlifting and ergonomics classes.

I think we should take 100 Billion of the Pentagon's $700 Billion budget and invest it into NASA. There's a great what-if video on youtube on what Nasa could do if they had the entire millitary budget.

The united states is already excellent at kicking in doors and breaking things. With a rifle behind every blade of grass I find it a bit intellectually dishonest to say we need to dump more money into the "Defense" department.

I am not anti millitary, anti-police, or anti-government. Also not a communist, socialist or affiliated with any movements or agenda driven associations. I'm just a regular guy that the state has Licensed to Carry.

Other than shooting up the place and needlessly killing a bunch of innocent people; in his manifesto, he has pretty much called a spade a spade and called it as it is. Unfortunately, he forsook martyrdom and surrendered.

Actually, I see what he is saying. After reading the manifesto, I commented in another group that if the motive were less racist and the targets were combatants instead of civilians, this closely resembles the constitutionally protected revolution so many gun owners secretly desire. The issue is this man was so ignorant, crazy, or stupid that he executed this right in entirely the wrong way. I was struck at how a few minor rewrites to his manifesto would make it indiscernible from some beliefs held by various anti-government or pro-revolution groups - and I don't mean crazy fringe groups, I mean people like the III%ers (though I'm sure some will find that to be an oxymoron).

We don’t have a gun problem we have a heart problem in America. If they take all of the guns away people will still kill. Fix the heart.

I read about all of these active shooters, and although it isn't against the law, If I see someone entering anyplace I am at and carrying an AR or AK style firearm, I am going to get quickly prepared. A rifle will usually always win the gun fight, so in order to get a bit of their DNA spilt, one has to get ready. I read where an individual in Arrowhead? Oklahoma was walking around with an AR pistol in a playground and then complaining when L.E. shows up and harassers him as he wasn't breaking any law, even with a bunch of kids out playing. Well he wasn't, just like this shooter as well as the one in Dayton, but it isn't normal to carry a long gun, in the open at the ready, in playgrounds, in Walmart or in a party part of town. I firmly believe in the right to keep and bear arms, but I also firmly believe in survival and not having my rights taken away by some Redflag law or another. Shoot, I was even recently placed on a blotter as a Homicide suspect, due to a mistake at the local Police Department in reading Soundex, and if I didn't work for another L.E. agency, I could have been Redflagged without even knowing about it and being perfectly innocent. Sorry for the thread drift. Back to the thread, I also just read on Twitter that a young SPC drew his firearm and got multiple children out of the danger area in that Walmart. I also, do believe that Laws or postings are going to get enacted that isn't going to benefit any Non-L.E. gun carrier, even here in Texas. Shortly we are going to be spending the majority of our time and efforts in minimizing this damage instead of concentrating on the upcoming election efforts by the Democrats as they are going to obfuscate the needed messages and only capitalize on these shootings to demonize all of us, even further as racists, gun and kill crazy individuals.

I have never seen a Walmart post anything barring guns, however, to my knowledge ALL Walmarts in Texas sell beer and wine, and are therefore required by TABC to post blue signs. Said signs make it illegal to carry a rifle inside (or any other firearm that isn't carried under the authority of LTC). So, it was illegal for him to carry the gun he had into Walmart.

Not all Walmarts in Texas sell wine and beer nor do they allow consumption of such on the premises. I've been in Walmarts all over Texas and have never seen a TABC blue sign.
