NY: Cashless Bail. Gifts for showing up for trial.

I felt this needed its own thread rather than putting it in no place but NYC.

With the city having cashless bail, how do you get an accused to show up for trial.

You give them gifts, like Mets tickets. Donut gift cards.

De Blasio defended the policy.

You really cannot make this stuff up.

Apparently they are letting a lot of people behind bars out as well.

Bet they don't give incentives for paying your taxes on time, or not going to jail in the first place.

My cousin works in NYC, she sees homeless people urinating on sidewalk's, nothing is done about it.

Someone should do an old time Western.

But the judge immediately just lets the bad guy back out on the streets with a promise that he will come back. And the Marshall says, I’ve got a donut gift card when you do.
