Bawaaahahaha... a small nuclear reactor in his garage? Is that even possible for an average person to do? If it is, I think I want one for Christmas.

Back in the 1990s, a young man by the name of David Hahn came very close to building a nuclear reactor in his mother’s garden shed. He might have succeeded had he not had a chance encounter with police. The EPA had to come in and clean the site up in 1995. He was known as the Radioactive Boy Scout.

At age 14, Taylor Wilson (born in Texarkana, Arkansas) became the youngest ever to achieve nuclear fusion. That was in 2008.

These guys might be a little bit above average, but it is certainly possible.

The wikipedia article on Wilson mentions that he has designed a small reactor using uranium and plutonium that is not weapons grade. It could be buried in the back yard and only needs refueling once every thirty years. It would produce about 50MW of power. He also has said he has designs for as small as a 2MW reactor, up to about 100MW.

I love this idea, but I have to ask. Can we trust nuclear power designs from someone from Arkansas?

You can build one. It's been done. Now, it's not a tokamak and it won't produce energy but it is nuclear fusion...

I am reminded of the story of the man from Arkansas who lost a fuse to his headlights in his pickup after frog gigging at night. He used a 22 cartridge in its place. Supposedly the cartridge heated due to the current and discharged. Shrapnel apparently went in the one place a male driver would not want it to go.

Xiden mentioned a 10 year old girl had to cross into Indiana to get an abortion. The Ohio AG went public and said they had no evidence of charges against anyone raping a 10 yo. Quickly apparently after that doctors decided to do what is required by law and reported the incident to police since raping a ten yo is child abuse. The doctor who leaked the story to the press of the abortion in Indiana has been brought up on Hippa charges, and low and behold a suspect has been arrested, who is not from the US and has undetermined immigration status. The Ohio AG has reported Ohio law would allow an abortion under these circumstances. I guess every one directly involved wanted it kept on the QT. Sounds like the story will not be ever reported again in the MSM.
